In order to being able to judge my own performance, I'd especially like to see some detailed scores (please don't post overall scores only) from other Radeon based systems, but feel free to contribute whatever you like ...

Btw, could anybody give me a clue on how to benchmark UT2004 ?

It was a piece of cake with UT2003, but I surely failed to find the counterparts in UT2004 ...
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

have to point out that the 2nd machine failed to install 3dmark 03 or 2001 due to the HDD going bust. it sings from time to time if you know what i mean, and when i access some of the first partitions, it gets very noisy... oh well...

edit: got 3dmark 03 installed, but it crashed, and codecreatures failed to install. bummer.

thanx a lot for your numbers, guys !

                    very much appreciated ...

one thing that strikes me though, is the fact that all Radeon cards take a huge performance hit in the high polygon tests when there more that one light in the scene, whereas a the performance loss on a Parhelia is not nearly as bad.

                    look here:
                    Code:
                    Athlon XP 2400+ (unlocked Thorton @ 13x166 - 2167MHz)

so going from 1 to 8 lights doesn't even cut the performance in half on a Parhelia, while the throughput on all those various Radeon boards seem to be quartered in that scenario.

Now if only the Parhelia would be able to run at core speeds of 300+ MHz, it could have been a really strong contender.

I see it more this way, the Parhelia doesn't have anything to half...my radeon although true that it's 1 light performance is 4 times as high, it's 8 lights performance still equalls that slightly OC'ed P's 1 light score...

Not to mention the lousy pixelshaders on the P.

very true and that's the main reason for my switch to the RV350 ...

but that wasn't supposed to be my point, instead I am really wondering why the Radeons tank that much in this lighting situation ?

Its got an Arctic Cooling VGA silencer on it, which enabled me to go from 320MHz GPUclock with stock cooling, to 373, which is where the Rage3D tweak maxes out the slider bar. the memory has no ramsinks, since it is 128bit memory, and there is nothing i can do about that.
The 9800SE on the other hand is a 256bit memory interface, and i'm just waiting for another VGA silencer for it to push it as far as it can go, but for around 100quid, if all goes well, i get a full 9800pro...on a 9800pro PCB and all...only a few days til the cooler arrives

                              Hi Tom,

I explicitly asked for detailed scores, because the overall scores mean nothing ...

                              Hey DGhost,

you put up some interesting scores there.

For one, your multitexturing looks a bit low to me, but I have no idea what architecture your GFFX5700U is, so it might be just right.

For the other, going from 1 light to 8 ligths in that high polygon test, seem to have cut the cards throughput in third, as opposed to be cut in half on Parhelia and being quartered on Radeons.

Pretty interesting, if you'd ask me.

                              Thanx for input y'all !
