My main "problem" seems to be that I rarely experience problems with Matrox kit, which sometimes make me appear biased. I can assure you that this isn't true, and that I am the first to shout when I perceive a problem (whether my own or helping someone else out)

You might right about the conflict sharing eventhoguh my system do not report any conflict.

I use a maxtor 66, 27 GB at umda 66 port on abit be6 mainboard. You said that I should first put the hard disk first on IDE port 33 the run utility software to modify it to 66 but I check maxtor site and abit site they do not have this utility, I only get a floppy disk when I bought this MB to enable bios to recognize umda 66. So if you know where I can find the utility I just mentioned please let me know.

I have hollywood plus mpeg card on one of the pci slot and it shares i/o with umda 66 bus control.

Do you any advice for this?

don't worry gino and i are like long lost brothers, me being the good looking one and geno...well i think i said it all in my last post-

to be fair though gino does seem to be the one with the most brains in the family.-

but then again i can always work harder and learn more but gino will always be butt ugly.

Hey Guci, don't know where you can find that utility. It should only come from Maxtor.

Move the hollywood card into another pci slot and see if that helps you. If you can't, then as a test, pull it out and remove all the drivers for it. Capture a new clip and play it back.

If you can, borrow a 33 drive from someone and connect this to your 33 connector, remove your 66 drive and disable the 66 connector from device manager and or your system bios. Try a new capture and playback with this setup.

I don' t know whether you should use this tool, but here you can find it.

I used it for my 6800+ and enables you to set the drive to DMA33. If you want you can set it back to DMA66 with the same tool.

I am pretty sure the problem is your
soundcard. I had exactly the same problem
and it completely went away as I swapped my soundcard(soundblaster PCI 64) for a Soundblaster 16 (ISA) !!!!!

Hi Guci,

this often happens to me too (second or third
attempt works). I assume (but I'm not sure)
it has something to do with the disk cache
in Windows.
