Yes, just send Marcus an email, even with the demo version I am posistve he will help. He is a very smart individual and very helpful. There are a few things that he wil have you try out and after a few tests he should be able to narrow your problem down. I fell really bad about the way this thread has gone, I am not going to take a side in this discussion, though I think you all know where I stand. I can't really cast a stone here because I do have one piece of cracked SW on my computer. Not because I did not want to pay for it, but because after several years, of trying to contact the manufacturer and resellers, they never responded to my emails and I could not purchase it anywhere. trust me I tried. Oh wait, I don't even have it installed now, but that doesn't change the situation.

Guess what I am saying is lets end the discussion here. I am sure that Hpar_ is fully aware of the views on warez on this forum now and I am sure that it will not happen again. It is nothing personal, it is just that we have been here for quite sometime and are not in a hurry to have it cluttered with warez requests and/or shutdown. It is illegal and something that will not be tolerated here. Trust me on this one, I have seen people banned for it. There is too much good informatin and too many helpful people here to let it interfere with your learning about this stuff. I would not want to alienate myself from any of these people. Shoot, I don't even own a Matrox card anymore and this is still the best place on the internet!

Just don't take it personally and let's move on.

      Don't leave us, Sciascia!

By the way, AVI_IO is worth the last coin in your wallet when you have a Marvel 400TV. If AVI_IO doesn't work right, something in your computer is bugging things up.

        I'm not going anywhere.

AVI_IO works great with my new AIW card too. I had to install some vfw drivers, but it captures in SW MJPEG like a dream. I can cap in MPEG2 directly, but if it didn't work witrh avi_io I may have actualy sent it back. That is how much I like this program. Not flashy, does exactly what it is supposed to do. If you have A?V sync problems during capture...this will eliminate them, if you have the 4G file size limit...taken care of, if you have framerate problems...exactly 29.97 fps. A nice small overhead keeps the resources where you need them, compressing the video.

I agree if you can't capture with this, then there is a system problem. Not being a smart aleck, it is just the best capture app for vfw out. This includes the big editing suites as well.

well fellas, I got avi_io1.24 trial working but now virtualdub is bugging :P

it figures. I just reinstalled not too long ago too :|

anyway, I will not use vdub for capture anymore since I am buying a licenced copy of avi_io.

gosh, I just wish I had waited to purchase a video capture card now, looking back in retrospect, but that is always the case or, hindsight is 20/20.

I got a marvel g200tv for dirt cheep and a couple of mystique220's with rainbow runner addons for dirt cheep off ebay. oh well, thats how the computer cookie crumbles.

oh, OH! on a different note, I have heard various things about getting capture to work with win2k/ntfs. is that a plausable option with this marvel g400tv or...? it seems some can get it to work, some cannot. I tried it on the last install and could not get it to work so I went back to win98se. I guess it is as usual, trial and error.

Sciascia, dZeus, anyone else putting me in check for trying to grub a rip of avi_io, its cool (:

I was just pissing and moaning about the industry and the like is all.

again, thanks for posting. its been great I think (:

I had troubles with Virtual Dub abd capturing as welll. That was why I went with avi_io, so don't beat yourself up about it too much.

I had Win2k capture working for a while, but editing and DVDMax were not as good as it was with Win98SE. I ended up going back until I got my new capture card. Win98 really is the best OS for the Marvel. I still love that card though I just sold it this week. It really is a great piece of HW, I basically got bored because it didn't offer anything more for me to learn about. Maybe if I had more problems with it I would have kept it. Kind of sadistic aren't I?

I understand the pissing and moaning part, it is my part time job. Thing is that Marcus isn't part of the industry in our eyes. He is part of the solution and a very popular individual on this forum. That was why he is so highly defended. Have to look out for a brother...

Glad it is working for you!

On another note this forum is the best one out there! I am trying to get info from the BIG-BAD Rage3D forum about different things. Not a real good source for video stuff. Unless you are worried about trying to find leaked drivers and a bunch of guys whining about their old card not supporting the new drivers and the typical 5,000 posts about 3DMark2001 benchmarks. I asked for a reference for a good MPEG2 editor and the only response I got was TMPGEnc. I appreciate the response, but not really what I was looking for. TMPGEnc is a great app, but the transitions and chroma keying are not up to snuff

              Hi folks,
Does anyone know if marcus lists the changes made in AVI_IO versions anywhere on his site?
My reason for asking is the I have a registered 3.22 and I note that 3.24 is available. On the e-mail he said that he would send a later version on request but I dont want to hassle him for a 2 point update if The changes made do not affect me.
              thanks
              john.

I mean the thing still goes for what I paid for it new :P

also, I was looking up apps on freshmeat.net regarding the g200/g400 and here is some of what I found:

                Linux Video Studio - http://freshmeat.net/projects/studio...27%2C256%2C128

and the link to all 6 of the projects in development - http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=g200&section=projects

now, if only I knew more about linux :P

its worth a shot to try at least. I have an extra g200 and a couple of rainbow runner video cards and I just happen to have an extra machine to test it on (:

oh well, when I get time, I will download linux and try it out. I hope the learning curve is not too steep.
