Well, it's a sure bet that anything is still possible at this stage of the game with this problem. I've only latched onto the Macrovision situation as an explanation because it's present as a pretty glaring part of the problem. Copy protection responses in the hardware I have just don't suddenly turn on by themselves, there does have to be a component in the video stream for it to get triggered. This may not necessarily be the presence of an actual, bona fide digital Macrovision "tag" on the stream coming off the timeline, but merely an unforeseen result of some other chance combination of bits to the camcorder at timeline playback startup.
Nonetheless, this triggering is clearly happening and it needs to be fixed. Once the copy protection can be made to NOT trigger, we'll then find out if there is anything else to this problem. I suspect that all the rest of the problem with disappear, once the copy protect triggering is eliminated.
