Laurie, not a bad effort from someone who lives on an island...

I'm sorry to see that Jeff has deleted his first post. It was a long, rambling, bizarre, original piece of prose. It was exactly what I wanted to see. It's now been banished into the ozone. Why Jeff, why?

As much as almost any kind of humour is better than none, what I had more in mind as opposed to generic jokes was simply good natured kibitzing between forum members in the various threads. Many of the threads in this forum used to take off in all sorts of interesting, unexpected directions after the original, technical question was dealt with. That's what I've always enjoyed. A good example of this is the current thread about the Canon Elura. It has evolved into a fascinating thread about fresh water fishing and man eating muskies.

And yes, as Chris has already stated, we even talk about hockey here occasionally. (Elie, Haig, where are you guys?)

And what's wrong with fishing, especially for muskies? We Great Lakes types take our fishing very seriously

        HEY !

You think us Muskies don't take it serious too ? Next time you get a hook in yer gills you just call the Muskie Helpline with ya brutherhood ID and see what response you get.

Sheeit, most of ya can't even play without a broomstick an' wire trace. Try me on a 8 pound monofil drop with a rod instead of a log.

What's the dam hocky score anyhows ?

            Speaking of fishing,

When I went to visit my uncle in Greece a while back, he took me out on his boat for a few hours of fishing. I'm not into fishing but I do know that I need a rod/reel/hook etc to do it.

Nope. All I got was a rope tied to my finger and dropped the weight and hook straight down in the water.

So here we are, 2 guys in a boat with our fingers sticking out trying to catch fish. Oh joy oh fun

Apparently, this is how the locals do it in that area of Greece because the fish in those waters are no more than 2 ounces.

You want to know the real reason why Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard?

              He flunked "Anti-Trust Law"!

              Ha! I kill me!

                  Well, if you're into sheep...

What do you call a Greek sheep that can sprint faster than the shepherd? A supplier of virgin wool.

BTW, This is the first time for a week or so I've been able to access this forum as someone seems to have put in an anti Netscape filter (thanks, Ant, for having fixed it).

Sorry, I haven't got any sheep stories to share , but I did see a fascinating story on TV a couple of nights ago about the freshwater sturgeon that live in the Fraser River here in British Columbia. They can live to be more than 150 years old, and can grow to be greater than 635 kg (1400 lbs) and 6 meters (20 ft) in length!!!

I have this vision of Haig and his uncle out in a little boat fishing on the Fraser River with those same ropes (as earlier described by Haig) attached to their fingers and then all of a sudden...
