  • I bought a Showshifter license and because of that I have to use it now and then, although I agree to your views concerning the interface and the proprietary format. It works reasonably well for the "record today - watch tomorrow" kinda jobs.

FlyTV hasn´t convinced me either, ´though it looks promising. I tends to default to mono recording, and manually switching to stereo mode resulted in dirty audio, like the off-frequency flaws in WinDVR.

I found out in a very early state that IUVCR is definately not my kind of thing.

And as for the Terratec software. Unless they´ve released something very recently, I think you refer to WDM Software Version 2.20.0.125, which was released early March. Apart from the fact that it isn´t beta anymore, it doesn´t differ from the beta release. It certainly won´t fix our problems. It even managed to screw up my HuffYUV capture once!

    • iuVCR works very well here with the Cinergy. The new Terratec software "kinda works" (i.e. doesn't seem to stop automatically anymore), but since it has a MUCH higher CPU load than iuVCR and consequently drops more frames I nearly only use the Terratec sftware for viewing TV, and iuVCR for capturing.

      • Well,
I bought a Cinergy 600, and I have to live with the Dutch channel
        frequencies.
Do those with more experience already have good advice for me,
or is there already a FAQ for this, and other do's and don'ts for this TV card ?

        • For starters, read this thread from start to finish, and you'll know every detail. To my knowledge there is no FAQ on the Cinergy cards (yet), apart from the somewhat modest one on Terratec.net

What is your cable provider/location? I have a *.reg file for the frequencies of Casema, region Ede/Veenendaal for Terratec's CinergyTV software.

My provider is UPC (Helmond) and I have the terratec application
              tuned.
Now where is it stored, maybe :
              [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TerraTec Electronic mbH\TerraTV\Stations]
              and in what format.

I do not know how to (fine) tune the winvdr channels, or where it is stored.
It probably uses frequencies it gets from directx.

              Maybe these can be changed.
Still in the debug phase, and wondering why no PC TV card accepts
a simple ascii list with channelnames/frequencies as input
              for tuning.

              • @GDF:

The Terratec TV software shouldn´t have a problem with the Dutch Frequencies. Just change "zoekbereik" from "standaard" to "alle frequenties".
The WinDVR tuner part is a totally different story. If you can figure out where it stores it´s frequencies, you´ll make me and the Dutchman very happy!

                • windvr channel info at :
                  Windows\All Users\Application Data\InterVideo\WinDVR\WinDVR.chan

but changing the entry 'FreqOffset' does NOT change the tuning.

one of these days I will start experimenting with directx frequency overrides.

                  quoting M$ :

Frequency overrides are grouped into application-defined "tuning spaces," which are identified by number. The following example shows an example override:

                  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-1
                  "12"=dword:04022750

In this case, TS0-1 indicates Tuning Space 0 for cable frequencies. The first number identifies the tuning space. The second number is either 0 for broadcast frequencies or 1 for cable frequencies.

The subkey named 12 overrides the frequency value for the frequency at index 12 in the current frequency table. The value of the subkey is a DWORD that specifies the frequency in Hz. In this example, the frequency is set to 67.25MHz. Overrides can be defined for any channel numbers in the range 1 to 999, inclusive. If the tuning hardware does not support a given frequency, the tune request will fail.

Where to get the patched windvr for vcd capture ?
ftp.terratec.de does not work for me (probably proxyserver shit)

You may need to set ftp to "passive mode" in internet explorer to by-pass a proxy.

                    • hello to everybody
has anyone ever used adobe premiere 6 for capturing with cinergy 600?

                      • If premiere supports WDM capturing, it should be able to use the Cinergy.

                        • i try to capture with cinergy 600 tv with capture format more than 352X288 and i can't.I've tried videowave 4,virtual dub, free vcr.
                          it's all the same.
                          does anybody know why?

                          Comment

                          • Virtualdub will not let you capture larger than 352x288 with WDM driver based capture cards, because it´s VFW-based.
What happens if you try to capture at higher resolutions? Do you drop frames or can´t you capture at all? Dropped frames at higher resolutions are often caused by IRQ sharing and/or PCI bandwith limitations.

                              i have athlon xp1.9+,windows xp.

                              • That's definitely not right. I use iuVCR all the time and only very rarely have dropped frames. OK, I have an AthlonXP 2400+, but then the CPU usage stays lower than 30%..

I guess you are trying to capture uncompressed and your HD can't keep up to the enormous datarate this produces.
I'd strongly suggest you try again with either the lossless HuffYUV codec (that halves datarate) or the PicVideo MJPEG codec.
