    Jack,

Wow! This is great news. I have been chasing this elusive problem for over a year. I am very curious as to what the problem actually was, and how it was resolved? Also, when did Ulead finally figure this out?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, I am very curious!

      Mark,

Have you tried Ulead Tech support? I know Ulead Tech Support isn't the best in the world, but bashing at their door constantly do help sometimes.

Jerry and Terry would be another option. They have a couple of resources in Ulead whom would look into the matter.

One year is just too long!!

I am not sure of the details, since I was only involved with the project back in October/November.

Have you got the files yet? Please test it and let me know whether it will solve your problem and others like you.

        Jack,

        The files did not solve...

        1. Print-To-Tape dropout
        2. Preview the timeline dropout

        ...however...

...the files *did* seem to solve the audio dropout issue when the *EXPORT* option is utilized.

Two individuals have tried the proposed fix with identical outcomes.

So it would seem R & D has made some progress, but more work needs to be done.

          Sorry, guys,

I thought you guys were using MSP7.

Please insert the lines into ulead32.ini for the version 6.5

          Thank you
          Jack

            Jack,

Actually we both figured out that it would have to be ulead32.ini instead of msp.ini.

I just retested this issue just to make absolutely sure of the results. They are as Jerry stated above.

Playback to the dv camera has an audio dropout just before 2:05 when playing back from the timeline or using the "print to tape" function.

            The "Export" function, however works.

At least we now have a workable method of outputting dv back to the camcorder.

As for Ulead tech support, yes, I have also found them to be very responsive. Unfortunately, I did call them on this about a year ago and they could offer no help. I think they were in the opinion that I didn't have my system set up correctly. When I found the posts of 4 other people with the exact same problem, also running Windows XP and MS Pro, I knew it was not and issue specific to my system.

Things could have changed during the last year, but I doubt it since the other guys with this issue have tried tech support since my initial attempt.

Thanks again for all the help.

I've not recieved a useful response form Ulead Tech Support in two tries. First about Matrox G450 DVDmax feature playback -- working as expected in the source window but not for scrubs of the timeline.

The second the MPEG.now pulasting artifacts problem. I'd hardly call two weeks for the quickest boilerplate reply "prompt".

                Wally,

I hear you. I think tech support is of most use for novice users. The issues you and I are likely to have are more the type the software engineers would have to hear. It's a numbers game for them, and I would bet that 99% of their calls are from novices, so support personnel are best equipped to handle them. I can see how they have to put their resources where the pay off is the largest. I am relying on this forum, beta-testers, and others in high places (like Jack) to eventually resolve our issues.

Unless my issue does not allow me to actually use the program, I'll give them time to work things out. All we can really do is bring problems to light in a clear and concise manner and wait for them to get around to resolving them.

                  Mark and Wally,

Pulsating artifacts has been solved and I believe I have given Doc (Terry) the solution for it. He has been spreading the news and files for quite sometime now.

I'll have a look at the other problems.

                  Thanks, chaps.

High places? Not really, I am just a PM in this organisation.

This is not even in my job description, but I enjoy talking to you guys.

                    Thank you all.

Well an honest "we don't know" and a real Email address of a tech to exchange more info in an attempt to duplicate the problem in less than two weeks would be a good start.

Matrox did this with my initial G200 Marvel problems -- the dialog was pretty useless being mostly "reformat your hard drive" or "its your AMD CPU" -- but eventually I put it in a Pentium box and duplicated the problems at which point they gave me an RMA. The replacement (two actually, the first had bad color) would have been a great out of box experience in my AMD system.

I've the pulsating artifacts fix from Terry and was one of the early "it works" responders.

I only put MSP 6.5 on my notebook in an attempt to duplicate Mark's problem -- something I wouldn't be able do with Vegas Video's "activation/registration" scheme -- since he seemed desperate to have someone else duplicate or deny the problem existed in an attempt to see where the problem might be. I duplicated it with both Canon and Sony camcorders.

The MSP6 bundled with my Pyro is all I need on my notebook. I'll keep MSP6.5 on it as it is, so I can test the full fix if/when offered. I don't need the partial fix that lets "export" work around the problem as all I do on the notebook is occasional short clips for powerpoint presentations.

                        Wally,

Thanks a lot for helping me out on this.

                        Jack,

Anyone that has ANY influence at Ulead is "high places" in my book!
