Unless they've removed their WPA-like "activation" from the final version I'm just not intrested in it.
Unless what I buy is 100% functional out of the box without needing anyone else's OK to use it, I'll not buy it. I refuse to use XP for my personal systems because of this. I'll not by updating my VV3 because of this.
Just FYI : VV4 beta and VV3 coexist. I'm definitely considering upgrading, but all will depend on the price, I might just stick with what I have today (still that auto-ripple is worth some extra bucks damned).
This is just a comment in response to that person who hides behind his e-mail identity and is too much of a COWARD to come out into the light and reveal to everybody who he really is.
But I think I have a hunch who 'Miya' is.
Listen up, COWARD.
Doc Mordrid has single-handedly provided more assistance to the video editing community than you could ever dream of doing, you FAKE.
I find your personal attack on Doc to be both offensive and hypocritical.
You've done NOTHING to help others as Doc has.
You hide behind your COZY safe little internet IDENTITY and you take 'cheap shots' at people who've volunteered their time freely to help others.
Who the HELL do you think you are?
You are the worst kind of internet SLIME.
Why don't you come out from the shadows and reveal your identity?
Or are you too afraid that we'll then know who you really are and what your personal agenda is all about.
This is my real name Jerry. Ready to make some more personal threats?
I'm just an interested former RRS and Marvel user who is sick of the relentless bashing of anything non-Ulead. But no more. You've run off another formerly happy MURCer. Proud of yourself?
The archives are there for all to see. Anyone who cares can look up exactly what I've said to you to get you to threaten me repeatedly, and they will all see just how far off your rocker you are.
Name calling and personal attacks got "dogbert" banned, it can do it for you if you persist(to all involved)
From what I have seen DrMordrid called it like he saw it.
But someones UI is anothers pain, I don't find MSpros particularly intuitive, but after a bit of use it works well enough, I will give VV4 a try tonight.
As to rendering times..etc, they do not include important codecs in the beta release for copyright reasons, I would interested to know how it perfoms with its own native codecs etc...if you have VV3 can you use the its codecs..etc in VV4? how does that compare?
And we are talking beta software here, so we only have opinions(no absolute facts) . No need to get personal over it FFS.
Has anyone tried the Motion Path tools to see if they have improved from VV3? My biggest gripe with VV3 was that the motion Path tools was just plain lousy. At least compared to MSPro's version.
One thing Vegas does do better than ANYBODY is capture video. Best interface I have seen in awhile.
I would post this question in a Vegas forum, but I am tired of getting the usual "If you don't understand Vegas you must be stupid" response.
Just to let you guys know that Doc Mordrid was the first and only person to help me out over 4 years ago when I had a question about video capture. I asked many people all over the internet for answers and either was ignored or flamed. He took the time to send me an email, explaining in very easy to understand, yet specific terms what I was doing wrong and why. He then turned me onto Matrox and recommended the Marvel G400TV, which was brand new at the time (you would have laughed if you saw what I was trying to use at the time). It was the single best purchase I have ever made. I then tried to use Adobe Premiere for months and months, posted question after question and had problems no matter what I tried. Doc helped alot, but he kept telling me to try Ulead MSP 5.2 and I was very hesitant. I had never heard of Ulead and I knew that Adobe was the leader in graphics and video (atleast that was their rep). I finally broke down and got it, and it was great. He also helped me with RAID controllers and sound card issues.
So Doc has been very helpful to me, I value his opinion more than just about anyone else on anyother forum. He may seem a little adimant about his opinion, but after arguing with him or questioning him for 4 years now, he has been right every single time. So if he thinks that it is a little clunky then I agree. I have used VV before and I couldn't stand it (personal opinion here). Some may like it, that is fine too, but I have to agreee that the UI sucked and rendering speeds are important. Just because I don't have multi-thousands of dollars tied up in equipment doesn't mean that I want it to be a dog. If I have to choose between two products that are basically the same, minus the rendering speed, I will go with the faster one. It just makes sense.
Doc has done more for this forum than anyone else, so if you attack him it is going to ruffle some feathers. I think that the response about the sound card was totally out of line. You may have a point, but do not try to win "cool points" by being rude. This is one of the best forums on the internet, people go very far out of their way to help others and be polite. If you disagree, then post it, I am sure that it is helpful, but don't make it a personal attack. That is just immature and not it the spirit of this forum. Jerold and Miya go way back, I think that this is their annual slug fest, I am not even going to get into this one again.
I may be a little sensitive to this since I just got flamed on another forum for an install guide I wrote almost a year ago that was stickied and had become the defacto standard (unbeknownst to me). There was one step that I had overlooked, though it was not really necessary and someone decided to rant about it. The little turd had the audacity to start a countdown on how many days it was until I fixed it. Like I go there every day, their attitude over there is so bad that I can't get halfway through a thread without personal threats and insults to the point that it reaches pages to get to anything useful. Needless to say almost none of their problems get resolved. So I fixed the guide then sent him a PM, which is how personal issues should be resolved. It wasn't even as close to as civil as you guys were here, but it is between him and me now and does not provoke the trolls and detract from the point of the forum.
Sorry, just felt like venting a little since I am still torqued about the other thing. It just makes me mad that I was bragging about how much better this forum is than anyother and I come here and see this. Atleast is is only one thread as opposed to every thread.

You're right. Doc is, by far, the most helpful poster on any video forum that I've ever seen. It goes without saying that he's by far a more valuable member of this forum than I am, and I regret the tetchiness of my post relating to him (believe me, I wasn't trying to win "cool points;" I was just frustrated).
So, Doc: I'm sorry. Really.
IM_Riktar: The motion path tools are unchanged from Vegas 3, as far as I've noticed. Was there something specific that you wanted them to address differently?
Marshmallowman: You can select third party codecs for capture by going into the capture preferences and unchecking the "Ignore third party codecs" box (it's checked on by default). And I wouldn't expect the V4 beta's rendering performance to change much between now and the final build; rendering speed simply isn't one of V4's strengths. If fast rendering is important, you're probably better off with MSPro.
Vlad: The motion tools in MSPro allow me to place a picture (Or video) over another track and create a PIP effect that I can scale to any size, place anywhere, and create motion (If desired) in a very logical, intuitive manner that I can see. Vegas just doesn't provide that type of option. Well maybe it does but I just haven't found the same point and click ease of use. One of these days I may dig back into the manual and try to figure it out.
And kudos to you for throwing out the Big "A" to Doc. He (As well as the other "Big Guns" on this forum) has been invaluable in assisting folks. While their feathers may get ruffled from time to time, their skin is pretty thick.
