I had a play around.
If you start media player in one desktop and move to the next you lose the picture.(if color depths are different)
but if you use multidesk to start it in the second desktop it displays fine.
if the colour depths are the same you can move it across and keep the picture. ( I am not sure if different screen rezs will change thing s)
