    Hi John,

Try using a splitter (1-in 2-out)for your setup.

Dennis, you can get the audio patch from http://207.121.190.160/support/index.htm

I had a talk with Avid this week and they are still working on this patch. So far, this patch has worked for most people.

A new issue has come out of this patch and that is with the Live card. Volume on playback is too low.

      Hi Haig,

Everything is up & running. Audio & video are cool, and the 1-in/2-out splitter idea works beautifully. Now, thanks to your patient guidance, I can get on with the business of editing videos.

      Many, many thanks! Take care.

      John

        Hello everyone

I am having a unique problem with my audio and I haven't quite figured out where the problem is coming from.

The problem is: when I use the microphone through my Soundblaster Live value, (to record my own voice) I get sound but at half volume and very garbled. It did improve when I made the suggested switch from an earlier post in the Quick Time/Control Panel sound out from wave audio to direct audio, however there is a lot of static and the sound is very unclear.

I purchased my Marval G200,250mhz RAMDAC back in Febuary and have all the standard software installed. However, I do not have this patch and I am not sure if this problem is linked to the recommended Avid/Marval patch.

I am still quite unfamiliar with the utilization of all these different programs but I desperately need some guidance from the experts!

        Thanks
        ACM

Hi . This question may be moot but did you look at the setting under volume controls, properties , other ? Make sure you have selected either microphone or line-in and the levels are up . Also turn down other levels not in use. This cleaned mine up.

              Hi Guys,

Maybe you could start a new thread instead of bringing these year old messages up.

Someone might actually think, these guys are still waiting for answers

When you are having problems, please:
              1. Read the manuals and readme files
              2. Check the guides and tips at http://desktopvideoworld.com/
              3. Search the forum, your questions have propably been answered a "few" times

Now, start a new thread, and let this one rest in peace.

                Hey Guys:
Sorry to stick my nose in:
It took me all of two weeks to get thoroughly disgusted with Avid Cinema, For all of the above reasons and more. Tech support--what a joke. I bought an unregistered copy of Premiere 4.2 on EBAY.COM for $75 and it works with my system perfectly (well, almost--nothing a few minor workarounds can't handle). I turned my Avid Cinema install CD into a clock (which, oddly enough, doesn't keep time worth a damn). Incidently, what happened to the Avid Cinema users forum on the official website? It was mysteriously dumped when it became obvious that 99% of the postings were from VERY angry would-be users.
Again, sorry to vent on you this way. You may have guessed I have very strong opinions of Avid Cinema.
Have fun chasing your glitches. Ciao.

Hi Guys, forgive me if i'm repeating q's and for a lack of know-how round these forums, but when i go to record my avid work out to VCR sound plays out of the speakers but i get no sound being recorded to video, only a picture. everything seems to be setup fine but i've noticed that when i select avid cinema all the boxes within my play/volume control become muted, also unmuting themselves when i unselect avid cinema. is there a patch that would work for this or anything appreciated as i'm stumped! cheers

Hi - I've been having a similar problem to you in that i'm getting no audio when recording files out to VCR. If you managed to solve it or have a patch which may help i'd be very grateful

Has this been resolved??? I'm having the same on capture audio problem with Avid and G400TV. It use to work, but when I upgraded to Windows ME it stopped and I've been pulling what is left of my hair out. I'm even rolling back to W95 as we "speak."

                      PS the "patch" didn't work

I once used Avid with WIN98SE and it worked fine within it's limited capabilities. One thing you may want to know is that AVID stopped supporting Avid Cinema over a year ago. No upgrades. No new drivers. No nothing. If you purchased it, it is only because Matrox had bundled it with your card prior to the cessation of support.

Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely that it will work with Windows ME unless there is some magic trick I am not aware of. Before you retrograde your op system, why not look at one of the other capture packages? If an entry-level package is your wish then take a look at the recent post in this forum for Video Studio from ULead. Might be perfect for you. Of course you will want to confirm that it is compatible with Windows ME.

If you guys want a good basic editor to replace Avid with try Uleads VideoStudio 5. Works great with my G400's and it also has a ncie DV interface if you decide to add an IEEE-1394 card to your mix. <$100 and worth more.

Happily, I bought an early G-200 Marvel, which was supposed to come with Avid Cinema, but was bundled with Media Studio Pro 5.0 (lite) instead, upgraded to 5.2. Matrox sent me the Avid Cinema a few months later, which I welcomed as being a simple entry-level NLE. Could NOT get it work, no way.

Happily, this forced me to perservere with the MSP which, although it had a longer, steeper learning curve, is infinitely superior. I totally scrapped Avid Cinema and do not regret it. I have since tried Premiere 5 but did not like it (personal taste, it worked as far as it went). Am now on MSP 6 (full version) and I STRONGLY recommend it as being better than the Avid product in nearly all respects (except simplicity). The fact that it has taken Avid well over two years to correct the fundamental problems I experienced then is scandalous and demonstrates their total disregard for the needs of the non-professional market. I do not believe that Matrox have done themselves a great service by bundling this defective software with their products.

My advice: don't even bother to try and patch a bad job : go for a good one, such as MSP or Premiere .
