yep. I am running the english version. It says the file size is wrong when i try the patch. My file is 142kb. This is the only one on my system. Maybe you can tell me exactly what the patch is editing in the .dll so i can do it manually with a hex editor and see if it will work that way ??

Ok, just to clarify, i made a MV patch for video tools ver 2.02.017 ENG WIN 2000 published 10/04/2001 on Matrox site for Matrox G200 MMS with TV Tuner as final release at ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/win_2k/2001/w2k_vt202e.exe .
I'm using it in win 2000 with my Marvel G400 with 5.20.016 drivers but this is a not supported combination by Matrox.
However i can say capture is working very fine. Just captured an 80 min VHS (Macrovision) in Avi_io YUY2 mode, 5 drops at 352 x 288.
Returnig to patch, it can works only with the above vtools, which i tried unsuccessifull to install in win 98 se (anyone did it?).
The only bug in this patch is the erronous message: "File rrapi.dll mismatch, already patched?" (should be: "cannot open file..")that appear if you try to apply patch with rrapi.dll still in use by system or appllication such PCVCR too, but if you apply it just after boot no problem.
I 'll post to Ant a fixed rel for what concern this erroneous message.

ok, the patch worked this time for some reason. Now whenever i go to run pc-vcr i get this message " Matrox Video Hardware is currently unavailable. Other software maybe using this hardware or there may not be enough graphics memory available. To use this hardware with this software, try this: 1. Close any other program that may be using it 2. Lower your display resolution and/or color palette ( a 16-bit color palette is recommended)."

I did all of these and it still doesnt work. I also tryed putting back the original .dll file and it does the same thing. Nothing is running and it isnt in use by aything. I tryed VirtualDub Avi_IO i get a message " error 418, Capture drivers not installed properly" So what's the deal ??? Did the patch mess up some other files? or is there somthing wrong with this version of VTOOL's ???

The patch only change JUST ONE BYTE in "rrapi.dll", from a jump conditional to a jump unconditional in the Macrovision check routine. Nothing more then this.
Who manage disassembler can easily understand this.
            Omega,
i don't think this is your problem, assuming you are using the right vtools. In a previous post you say your rrapi is 147 kb, if is it so you are using a different version, the rrapi size in vtools 2.02.017 is 208.896 kb.
However can you post vtools ver, and os you are using?

                Hi, sergio

Thanks for the patch! For me it didn't work but it seams to be beacuse I run w98.
Th rrapi.dll -file is right size but it answer that the file can allredy patched. Is it posible that you could fix a patch for w98 also? The version of my rrapi.dll is 2.02. Have a nice day!

Christati sent me this dll (i think win9x vtools boundled with g450 etv), which is the same in size but different into structure (here why "already patched", just not found the right boy), i patched it and posted him, now if he say me that's ok, but i think so, i'll made another patch and post it.
                  Hoping soon final vtools

                    Prodigio,

                    ciao

I'm using Windows 98. I have Video Tools 1.55 that came with my card. By installing VT 1.52, I was able to apply the 1.52 MV patch. However, VT 1.52 causes me to lose the sound for my Line and TV inputs in PC-VCR. The link for version 1.54 (http://matroxusers.com/VidUtils/VT154Macro.zip) doesn't work.

Could I possibly use Video Tools 2.02.017 with Windows 98?

OR, does anyone know what's happening to my sound? Reinstalling from the CD fixes it.

I tried 1.54, which also (like 1.52) killed my line-in audio. In both cases it was the Video Tools that caused the problem, not the patch.

I found a workaround solution, though. In case anyone else has this problem, here's what I did: I installed VidTools 1.54 and applied the Macrovision patch. Then I made copies of the two patched files. Then I reinstalled my original VidTools 1.55. Then I copied the two patched 1.54 files over their 1.55 versions. Apparently they are close enough, so that there isn't a conflict. Now my sound works, and the patch works.

                              Grazie.
