Mark the "live video on desktop" ON
Pop down the PC VCR by clicking the desktop tray icon (bottom line)

    Good luck!

I am doing a lot of Video dubbing - editing and compressing. I used the Marvel G400 with 1.52 VT in YUV2 mode (AVI/IO)and the ulead 5 for edit . But is it worth to change (in WinME) to the 2.04 VT or not ?

I have some problems with the current version 1.52 (I never liked the 1.54)and what about the unstable video with the newest video tools 2.04? Macrovision problems are the same as the uncracked 1.54 ?

Hi, only wanted to report that it looks like after an quick check that the "new" video-tools works the same in winXP(2486) as in win2k.

Can't get new VT to run under Win2K SP2 and 5.37 drivers. All I get upon Video Tools initialisation is Matrox Quick Connect popup causing massive load to the CPU and machine automaticaly shuting down due to overheat when it reaches 70 degrees Celcius.

Could someone post a link to this? I've looked all over Matrox's site and I can't find where to download it.

Does it work with the G450 E-TV? Did it fix the macrovision problem? If not, has anyone made a patch, yet? I have some old home movies I'd like to cap and I have a feeling they'll give me trouble.

            Thanks,

            Michelle

You cannot d/l it from the Matrox site, because it is not an official release. Someone "leaked" these without permission.
They're a buggy, old beta build.
There is a link on MURC's news page if you really want them.
But Matrox is supposed to be releasing a newer OFFICIAL build any day now, and it would probably be worthwhile to wait for those...

It sounds like they are going to be released end of the week. Here is the post with where I get the hunch from:
                http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/For...ML/003560.html

I really hope the YUY2 works flawlessly full-frame under Win2K.

I think the only big difference between these and the supposed new release though is that the leaked beta has hardware MJPEG support and the new ones won't have. Also Matrox have said no more VTs for Win 9x only Win 2K, this beta works on both as I understand it. Some people have had great success with this beta others none at all.

Any one had success with those drivers and Marvel G200?
I tried with Windows ME and W2000 and the results are the same as the Video tools v. 2.02, no video at all from the input and also with previous acquired avi file i get no video!
                    Ciao

I tried these beta VT's with no luck under win98 (first edition).
I must admit I haven't had time to experiment yet so I simply installed them over g400 6.21 drivers and vt 1.52.
The old pc-vcr still works though(and it has a new menu: Closed Captioning in the settings tab)
The new pc-vcr crashes when I try to execute it (it first tries to run quick-connect and then dies).
If I run it again I get a Windows protection error and I must reboot.
As soon as I will have more time I try running the matrox uninstaller first and then reinstalling these beta VT's.

See my posts here above (24 Jun 2001) about unluck and luck installing these tools.
Yes, it's tricky to install them.
Me too run both PC VCR 1.52 AND 2.04, but 2.04 overvwrittes the TV channels.
Now I've just deleted the PC-VCR 1.52 icon and run only the 2.04. I am fine with it, so far

I finally had some time to play with install/uninstall for a couple of hours and I finally made it installing vt 2.04 beta on win98 first edition.
Everything seems to work from the pc-vcr (I just didn't try yuy2 captures because my hard-disk isn't fast enough).
Even switching from one skin to another one seems to work now.
My path to install these vt's:
I uninstalled every matrox app from the install/uninstall application tab, I ran the matrox uninstaller, booted to safe mode, uninstalled an old copy of VT which was still in the applications list, booted back to full win98, I installed the display drivers 6.27, rebooted and then I installed vt 2.04.
The only things I'm disappointed by are:
                            1) the old Flying Dutchman's patch doesn't work with the new vcap16.dll (I hope he's reading this , the two files have different sizes) and therefore I'm unable to capture in yuy2 from virtualdub.
                            2) virtualdub crashes on exit (it seems to be nothing serious though)
                            3) the old matrox teletext explorer doesn't work anymore (is there a version newer than 1.0 (1999) around?)

                            Have fun y'all

These new tools seem to be a mixed blessing.

I did a clean install under Win2k w/o a problem. The display driver works just fine, but I already crated a crash (stop error) with the video tool trying to play back what I just had recorded from tape using mjpeg. Excellent mjpeg quality, the best I have experienced so far. However, NO SOUND is recorded. And when paying back, the sound control is automatically muted. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get sound to work. All the sound in settings for recording are where they are supposed to be, and fooling around with them did not change the problem.
