I added another "Ruska" (colors of the autumn as in english) shot that was laying around on my panorama folder. Not the best one, but not the worst either.

Hey, where that one panorama picture did go?

      I liked it.

don't be scared if you don't get replies instead. just wait. MURC isn't place where beginners are crushed not being a pro right a way. (like I would be a pro... which I'm certainly not. )

        Hi,
I deleted my post because it was a wrong panorama picture.
I am in fact amateur photograph since the middle of 1950, but I am a very beginner in panorama photos. I am using the Photo Vista Panorama 3.0 program to render my pictures.
Here is one of my first, taken from the Eiffel Tower last week. I used my Nikon Coolpix 995. No tripod, just handheld, and the previous picture had some major issues. The bridges over the Seine were broken and in this new panorama I edited it and I hope it looks better.
My problem is the file size. I am working with PaintShopPro 8 and I both resize the original and I save them with 50X compression. This picture is one of them, resized and compressed.
I am interested to know how others do the compression to publish the pictures on the web.

It seems that Photo Vista uses a different projection model for combining images. (makes image look like projected on tilted disc... which in this picture isn't a bad thing. Makes feel of depth much much more efficient.)

And panorama pictures takes always awfully lot of space, no matter how you do it as long as you want quality stay in some limits.

As an advice, I recomend you to take more source images. it should make seams less visible. (I usually take pictures with "half a frame rule". This means that I move previous frame central point to left or right edge of next image. (makes pictures share 50% of total frame space.)

To make even more detailed panoramas, shoot the pictures in 90 degree angle (with 2 MPixels camera, invidual frames would have 1200x1600 resolution.) and using Half a Frame rule. using aperature and exposure lock (aka. Panorama mode in some cameras.) is adviceable, but not nessessary. Of course not using locking, means a lot more work before combining, because you need to syncronize contrast and color balance to all frames match the same.

for stitching / combining, you may want to try Panorama Factory. sometimes it makes pretty awesome results and sometimes you get a better results by blending frames manually in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. (using layers and alpha channels for each layer.)

There's no universaly one and only software to do stitching. I usually test several programs and techniques to check which gives the best result.

maybe, this is enough for a start...

Fred, it would be nice if you would use the THUMB vb tag (how to use, since that big picture makes reading hard and load times slow for the modem users. Thank you

Thanks; Nappe1. Your advices are appreciated.
In my first panoramas (a new area of photo for me) I was forced to edit some of the pictures. Rotated some degree ond cut some of them. And, I must confess that in the previous image I was forced to cut and paste details (a bridge on the picture) because the original photos (2048x1360 =3:2 format) had different perspective distortion.
In some of my first panoramas I even discovered that the stitching generated some unperceptible errors, like the Pantheon building (Paris) appeared twice. One in a near perspective and another in the far background. The rest of the photo was so nice combined that I couldn't see the error at the first time.

                            Indeed

Also, the image apparently didn't upload completely (at least all I can see here is some sky).

Fred, I like your new Panorama (I don't like the city one because, well, I don't like city panoramas - I like them when they show the vastness and greatness of mother nature )

                              Thanks, az.
Unfortunatelly the panorama is curved a bit too exagerated.
The road is straight in reality, only the houses are slightly angled just at the borderline of my house (about 170°, or say 10° from a straight line)
The photo is taken in a green zone, with only the nature behind me.
Yes, I like this area I am living in here. It is about 7 km ouside of the town and 1,6 km stright to the sea. I am living here since 24 years ago. Won't change
