I need to be able to vote more than once. I've had problems on VIA and BX with those SOB's.

The only board I had a problem with an SBLive on is an Abit BH6.

Other than that I've installed them on:

Epox EP-8kta2 and an Abit KA7, without a problem.

I'm actually running a Sound Blaster Live! WITH a VIA chipset board... and everything else I've had... (Though this is my first VIA chipset board and it's not the 686b)...

          Tried and tested here:

          Giga-Byte GA-6RX (VIA Apollo Pro 266 Rev1.0 mobo)
          Giga-Byte GA-6BA (Intel 440BX Rev3.0 mobo)
          Giga-Byte GA-6BA (Intel 440BX Rev2.9 mobo)
          Abit PR5R2 (Intel 430VX(?) Rev1.2 mobo)

          J1NG
What am I doing with 4GB DDR RAM? I dunno, sounded fun at the time...

I'm having problems with dropped frames and audio popping while video capturing with an SBLive and 686A Southbridge.

I think the soundblaster live that I have is one of the best cards on the market!
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

TP all you have to do is tell me what you want added to the poll and I'll see what can be done.

I used to be a creative/soundblaster hater, a long time ago before the live. All their cards sounded horrible compared to the Ultrasound. But the specs of the live sounded good to me and since I couldn't get the ultrasound to work right in win98 I decided to get one, also because the vortex 2 wasn't available yet. Boy was and am I glad I did that. Not only does it sound good, I absolutely never had ever a problem with it. Even with capturing video, it never goes out of sync, even with loads of dropped frames. The fact that I'm using a AOpen BX mainbord could be the reason.

The same here. Only minor problems and only in Win2k, but they were nearly identical on an Intel BX board (ABit BH6), a VIA686a mobo (ABit KT7) and my current VIA KT266 (EpoX 8KHA) one.

Hunsow, you're so right with Creatives BAAAD sound quality, this was the thing that really annoyed ME with the SBLive, together with the non-functional SP/Dif under Win2k.

BTW, I've just (1 hour before...) taken the SBLive out and replaced it with a cheap Terratek DMX Crossfire. Not too much testing so far (of course), but the sound-quality really is better and Win2k installation went without any hassles. Have to do some further tests with vid-capturing and DVDs (SP/DIF) under Win2k.
Maybe I can finally get rid of my Win98 partiton, since the only occassion I use (hopefuly used) it is for watching DVDs to get AC3-out despite having a Creative soundcard

I have no problem with sb live in the following:

                            abit bh6
                            abit be6-ii
creative blaster pc (has bx chipset with onboard sb live + live drive built in the case)
                            ecs k7vza rev 3

in the middle of my be6-ii's lifespan friend upgraded is sb live platinum to the 5.1 so as a favor since we swap hardware arround all the time (mostly i give him 3com nics) I got his old sb live platinum

                              Ultrasound MAX, that's been real.
But latest CL cards proved to be good enough too. No problems with SB AWE 64 Gold & Live 5.1 Plat. (Intel boards only though).
