Did going from 400 to 800 improve rendering time?

You should see a =<25% decrease in rendering times by increasing the cpu from 800 to 1064mHz... everything else will just act a tad snappier (2D)

Also, please tell me whether the system will definately be as stable as this baby is right now... i explained why i need to know !

as I said before... that depends on whether you can achieve these speeds and or the quality of the parts. From your querries OCing isn't going to be what you want to do... stick with default and don't worry about it. If the risks are worth taking, then try it yourself and see firsthand. Nobody can answer the "stability" issue for you.

To answer whether this will strain anything... well let me put it this way, I'm still running my Athlon 500 @ 850... since fall '99! Yes I do realise it's a different cpu altogether, but like I said previously it all depends on the quality of the parts and how well it's cooled.

i totally agree with you... what i am trying to get to is... if i get the 800/100 and i run it at 133, will i be overclocking it, while what i am doing now is not considered OC'ing ?

Yes you will be overclocking it. The 800/100 has an 8.0 multiplier for the 100 mhz bus speed, giving you 800mhz.

If you run the 8.0 multiplier at 133mhz that gives you 1064mhz, thus overclocking it.

The 800/133 processor has a 6.0 multiplier to run at the 133mhz bus speed giving you 800mhz. That's why if you run it at 100mhz bus speed it boots at 600mhz.

cool... so what we deduce is that i am OC'ing in both cases ! I might try to get the 800/100 tomorrow... let;s see how it goes !

                    Thanx all
