Does this mean that I'll have to plug it into my APC to protect it? Wait. If I plug it into my APC, it will be going through the battery and will not receive the signal from outside the APC.
I wonder how easy the surges that an APC would hold back would fry this thing crispy and whatever it is connected to.

There are inherent problems. The equipment cost is obscene, since you have to give EVERYONE a nice power conditioner and UPS.
Add to that the completely unreliable nature of 2-phase power... if you even HAVE 2-phase power where you are...
Brownouts, spikes, and whatnot don't help either.
I'm not saying it can't be done. I mean, Tesla made a prototype work 75 years ago. But that was using wireless transmissions...

Btw, the power company here in singapore will be doing a trial... maybe i can try to test it out as a trial user. But i guess it might be too costly for most of us in the short term.
