Well, I've bought me a 80gig Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 2 weeks ago after my IBM died a horrible clicketty-clack death, and I'm apsolutely satisfied with everything... Compared to the IBM it's completely silent, and HDTach gives an average read value of 42Mb's per second... It's a shame my store only had the 2Mb cache version... You can get some more info here.

Can someone confirm the 80Gb per platter capacity that Maxtor is boasting with?

Oh, hell yes!!....but the silence clause in the NDA is still running

Yes, that .50 rifle and its 500 grain bullet kills on one end and maims on the other, which is American slang meaning that it kicks like a jackass on PCP (ouch!!)
