I wouldn't trust Crucial Radeons... Check this out: http://www.amdzone.com/articleview.c...id=1197&page=6
If their Radeon 8500 is that slow, how slow would a 8500LE be?

Depends on the resolution and make! The Gainward GF 4 cards have near Matrox 2d iq in 1600*1200*32!

Same goes for the Club3d and PowerCoulor range!

          Edit: Poor IQ that is!

Guru, you're talking about regular GF4 cards. I'm talking about the GF4 MX cards, which are really just GF2s.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

                Thanks for the info/warnings.

I might still try the gigabyte 9000 card, since I have been quite happy with the image quality from my old creative geforce DDR. I only use 1024x768 on my monitor under w2k, and 1184x864 under linux. (in other words, I don't think I need a particularly high quality graphics card to drive my monitor)

But I will make sure I am able to return the card if it doesn't work out

I'd suggest a R8500LE as well, but make sure you get one with good memory chips...
