...that's true, and the .22 dot pitch makes the Parhelia shine.

The differences between the GDM and the CPD may be more in the price than the performance to hit different market slots, but I couldn't say without seeing the two side by side. But Sony does have a good tube.
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
    Who cares?

Oh, sorry Wombat. I should have added that I can get the Sony at mwave.com for 664 dollars. Would it be worth it for that price over the NEC?

I know you can' find Iiyama everywhere, but look into what they have to offer. Excellent screens at decent pricing.

We've been stocking some of those bad boys here at work lately. They are pretty nice.

I was gonna go for an IIyama 512 Pro, but it got bad reviews. I'm still wondering if that Sony is worth the 664 dollar price tag at mwave. Still can't find any reviews of the NEC one. What's with NEC and reviews....they seem a bit sparse.

One down side to NEC (monitor's made by Mitsubishi) is Mitsub's bad reputation for repair if it comes down to that. That and their financial standing isn't all that great from what I've been told.

Most of Mitsu's tubes find their way into IIyama's monitors. For around $30 bucks, you can upgrade your warranty on an IIyama monitor and get advanced replacement if something ever goes wrong.

Sony, OTOH, has no such advanced replacement policy, leaving me up the creek if my GDM-FW900 ever goes bad on me.

                  Greebe,

I had three or four NECs lose their ability to display red all around the same time, only to find out that incredibly, the specific NECs I had only had a one year, rather than a three year warranty (they were the Multisync C500s).

NEC flat out refused to accomodate me, despite the fact that we've been using NEC monitors of varying sizes and quality for YEARS.

I'll never buy another NEC again after that incident.

The head in the arse attitude of some companies is amazing.
That reminds me a company that I've asked for a £11,000 quote for hasn't come back. Looks like they lost a deal.

Can anyone answer my specific question: Is the Sony CRT I have linked worth a 664 dollar price? And if so, would any of you recommend it over the NEC one?

Well doesn't that just beat all....overnight it looks like mwave raised the price to 771. Sheesh....doesn't make any sense, and I'm sure I'm looking at the same monitor.
