Hi C.L.B.

I'm taking a well earned break (you know how hard us University employees work ) so no news on gaming yet I'm afraid. I didn't wanna bring it home for the hols only to have to part with it 2 weeks later

I couldn't get a much better monitor to complete the trio at 3*1280*1024, so I'm back to two independant monitors. I really couldn't get used to the TFT at anything other than 1280*1024. If only Mr P would allow a different res on the 2nd & 3rd heads to that on the 1st head when in TH mode.

I go back on the 6th, so I'll test it with games as soon after that as I can. Any preferences?

Something thats fast so you can check out ghosting. 3dmark on my Samsung 181T will show ghosting on the faster bits.
Funny you say you're going back on the 6th. Did you have to take out extra holidays to do that?

Er, yes, I think Thurs & Fri were extra, but its all rather informal for Academic and Academic-Related (me) grades. I had some parental leave earlier this year (where I ended up working from home loads anyway as it was at the start of the semester) and I think my balance is still way more than the the maximum carryover of 5 days. Swings and roundabouts though

We broke up on Xmas eve and should return on the 2nd of Jan. I couldn't see the point of working two days of either week so took four days out my annual leave.
I'm curious as to why more and more manufacturers are leaving the response time off there products. Is becuase they're crap at it???

You know what it is like in the build up to a new semester...despite requests before Christmas for plenty of notice, I still end up snowed under now

OK, so I finally tried 3dmark2k1SE this morning. TO be honest the TFT was the least of the problems. The Parhelia's performance was a bit pants: compare

On those occasions where things were moving fast, such as the tips of the wings of the horses on the carousel in the High Poly 1 Light scene, it looked a bit like motion blur. I guess I could get used to it, but CRT is definately better.

I'll test again when I get the Parhelia into the new 2.4Gig P4 in the next few days, when I expect that will show the TFT up even more.

Yeah, the biggest improvement this TFT makes is when looking from the rear!
