Haha funny this 'cos I witnessed some bloke in a computer shop trying to convince a customer that AGP and PCI slots were basically the same - you could plug one card into the other sort of slot and vice-versa - that some connectors would "stick out of the end" didn't reallt matter (!).

I had previously read about it in "computer Stupiditys" and never fought that I would see it in "real life" butIf there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

i'm not entirely positive, but you should be able to disable all the extra features of AGP versus PCI66 - sideband addressing, etc...
a fair amount of the early AGP video cards were simply PCI graphics chips operating in an AGP slot... the motherboards are quite capable of operating in this sort of mode..
granted, i'm not entirely positive how many graphics cards would acctually work given that scenario... there would be no chance of getting any i74x graphics card working, and i would question just about any current graphics cards.. and even if the card works (which it should) the drivers may fail because of the inability to cope with the lack of these abilities..."And yet, after spending 20+ years trying to evolve the user interface into something better, what's the most powerful improvement Apple was able to make? They finally put a god damned shell back in." -jwz
