Gurm: I meant computers running XP being used as a server... There must be configurations like that...?

Gurm: If a reviewer finds a 15K drive silent, it is meant in reference to other similar spec drives...

Thop: IBM still also has 3 years on IDE drives.

BuddMan: Guru makes a very valid point about the drivespace needed when doing video-editing.

isochar: I opted for a special case, the Lian Li PC70. It has 6 hidden 3.5" drive bays that have 2 80 mm fans in front of them (there also is a speedswitch with 3 settings controlling these 2 fans). It requires less 5.25" drivebays.

Oops, you're right, but it depends on the model. There are some IDE's on which there is 3 years:

            Warranty Period -
            Ultrastar Products - 5 years
Deskstar Products, all 8MB cache buffer models - 3 years
Deskstar Products, 512K or 2MB cache buffer models sold prior to November 15, 2002 - 3 years
Deskstar Products, 512K or 2MB cache buffer models sold on or after November 15, 2002 - 1 year
            Travelstar Products - 3 years
            Microdrive Products - 1 year
