I know XP supports Intel's hyper threading and supposedly 2K does not, but can it work anyway?

I thought that hyperthreading is "transparent" to OS, wchich means that any OS that can make use of dual cpu's can take advantage of HT.
Was I wrong?

No. Win2k will show the 2nd processor, but it cannot distinguish between a physical and a logical processor. You must use WinXP or greater...Comment

HT is not really two CPUs, and it can act slower than a pure UP if not handled correctly.Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.Comment
