They're mapped to servers in my work domain. Just covering up the full domain name. Wouldn't want to give away anything confidential you know

I get it - on all but my Dual Celeron machine - I have classic view on that - the others are the modern feel...

Told you the old classic view is the best.
It's them hiding teletubbies causing the cpu's to race.

I've been away for a while, but I don't know WHAT you're talking about.

I right-clicked on a bunch of files... CPU usage spiked to 4% while drawing the context menu, then dropped to 0 again.

Must be some transient thing. Or maybe it's a VIA bug. LOL.

Not a VIA thing for sure. I'm running on a Northwood P4 and it happens to me. Check out that MS article posted above.

                        Gurm:

                        Steps to try:

                        Open up Task Manager,
                        Go to Performance.

                        Open up "My Computer"

Then Single Right Click on C: drive...

Sadly, this has JUST STARTED HAPPENING on my machine. It won't even go away when you deselect the file. ARGH!

Gurm, oh, I see how you figured out to utilize this latest undocumented feature of XP.

If you turn off Transition Effects, or switch to Classic View, it goes away. If you use StyleXP, that also has it's problems with the Shell.

My machines run noticeably faster when I turn off all of the eye candy.
