Yeah, that's odd, especially since NEC were one of the first to jump on the DVI bandwagon with their "Ambix".

Maybe it's because they view the 1760NX as entry-level or consumer-level, and don't expect all users to have DVI cards.

That sucks for the end user though.
They could include the cable for maybe $3 cost to them.
Having to buy it seperately looks more like an additional $20 or so for the end user.
Plus they are kind of hard to find....

Yes, that's much like that annoying habit of printer manufacturers not even including a USB cable.

No DVI cable with my Acer either, just the analog one.

I am thinking it is something the retailers have asked them for.. for many shops it is the only way to get some profit from selling a printer / monitor is by selling acessories, such as the cable.
We sold printers with less profit than the printer cable. Then again, the cost of the printer cable was just $2.35CDN, and sold for $14.99 ..now they easily sell for $25 in the big chains.

TJalfe has hit the nail on the head. With monitors and printers in such a huge price spiral right now, the only way to profit is by selling the "accessory kit" ... cables, etc.

Yer, maybe I should have mentioned in one of my "praise the 1760NX" posts the fact it doesn't come with a DVI cable
In fact the only manufacturer I know do include one is Hitachi.

Just a word or warning about buying DVI cables.
Make sure the cable you purchase is designed for a 17" LCD and not for a 15" LCD.
You may think there is no difference, however it's about bandwidth.
A display running at 1280x1024x32@60hz requires more bandwidth than one running at 1024x768x32@60hz - some of the real cheap cables may not be up to the job - you'll soon know as the image will just look terrible, out of focus etc.
I actually paid a fair amount for a Belkin cable, didn't need to but I know it is up to the job.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.

As this is fast becomming a thread to take a look in if your considering an LCD.....
I'm not sure if I've posted this link here before, I have on a couple of other forums I frequent.
It's a link to an LCD buyers guide that is my pet project, I think it just about covers the majority of features and specifications you are likely to be hit with when searching for an LCD panel:

                    Samsung 191T triple head

I have been using the Samsung 191T for a couple months now, I love it. Very sharp and vivid colors. I like it so much so, I bought 2 more and an ergo tron LCD triple head stand.

Professional-grade products that offer exceptional value are the hallmark of Ergotron.

If you have the means, I highly recommend it. It is so choice.

@Paulr: IIyama also includes the DVI cable (at least on the ones I bought).
