Rakido: The OS will be Windows XP professional. Having that ability to backup that way, makes 2GB seem like a good size; but as I don't have a jazz drive, this becomes more or less of a non-issue.
Multimediaman: This dumpfile information seems important in making a good decission. Any links ?
Gurm: Main uses will be photo-editing; with video-editing probabely being just around the corner. I know I currently lack the storage for the latter, but adding a dedicated drive for video-clips is easy.
For backing up the bootdrive, I thought about using Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.org/ ). I could use this Linux-distribution to make an image of the bootdisk and place this image on another harddisk. If things go wrong, I only need to boot with the CD, and copy the image back to the drive. Does this makes sense ?
(I know it is not a backup in the traditional sense, think of it more as an easy routine for getting a clean system back)
