  • new kid in town: XGI ?

A Dutch/Belgian website posted that there might be a new contender to compete with ATI and nVidia: XGI.

The duo-models use 2 GPU (V5 or V8) on one card.

    According, to the Dutch article:

the card is a very serious contender.
    V5 : 4 pipelines 300MHz, 256MB DDR2, 128 bit bus
    V5 Ultra: 350MHz core, 1GHz DDR2.
    V8 & V8 Ultra: 8 pipelines (rest is similar)

Has anyone heard more on these cards ?

I think that they are what used to be Xabre graphics.

I will reserve any judgement until we see proper reviews (eg by Beyond3d ) using production hardware. Too many unknowns to conclude anything credible until then.

Actually, they're a combination of Xabre and Trident, and are owned by SiS.

They could be around for a while, if their initial offerings don't suck .

Looks like SLI (something like it ) is making a comeback.

Trident's XP4 has been renamed to Volari XP5 apparently.

Let's hope we get to see something soon

maybe their Duo will be a total 9800XT/5950Ultra killer... then again, maybe not...

p.s. quite a few typo's in their paperlaunch.

And it's all ridiculous market fluff.

Btw, did you know it has a "Blazin' fast PCI interface"?!?!?! OMG OMG

So the V8 Ultra would be at Radeon9800Pro speeds - unfortunately at the time those cards really are available (by the end of next year, I guess - if ever...) we will already have seen the respins of ATIs and nVidias DX10 chips....

Actually, they're supposed to be available soon, as in 1-2 months.

Do you have a link ? I can't seem to find it....

                            edit: I found the link:

No mention about the computer it was ran on...

If we are to believe these guys, it was a 3Ghz CPU, I'm guessing Intel since there's no AMD CPU clocked at 3GHz and no 3000+ mention.
