Exactly how I feel. I still think my point was missed though.

You can buy any Asus board with any chipset and it will be stable(except for the few noted exceptions). Asus boards are typically the fastest, and when they aren't, they are damn close. They aren't the best overclockers but I don;t overclock. And if you are doing a lot of video like the Doc, then I guess VIA isn't for you apparently. In the end though, my VIA KT266 Asus board is more stable than most boards out there.

I have to say I haven't had any trouble at all with my KT333 Epox board for the year or so that I've had it. (Touch wood.)

I had an Asus A7V8X Kt400 MB. I will never own another VIA chipset. Nuff said.

My KT133A with the 686Bitch chipset is probably my last VIA board. It was buggy, and VIA denied it forever, even after Breese found the bug, wrote a hack around it, and published it.

Yep. And they haven't fixed it yet.

hmm, I was thinking. I never installed the 4-in1 drivers. Maybe that's why I am have such good luck I use the original 4-in-1's that come with winxp.

I have only used the 4-in-1's that Soyo has posted specifically for my mobo. Have not gone direct to VIA's 'latest & greatest' hyperion drivers. Prob why I also don't have all the probs...

Even better you still get users using this pooh and complaining about things crashing etc. Buy a new board.

I did buy a new board. I'm using the old 8KTA3 in my Linux box, since drivers written by people other than VIA are stable, and do what they can to alleviate the performance drags.

no, no. they buy it, THEN they ask you if it's a great board or what. you tell them it's crap and they go "come on!....it must be good, i paid it cheap". cheap being equal to...what? technically advanced? it's just wishful thinking that believing VIA makes great products for a great price....but they're cheap enough so that ppl buy them...
