P.S. After being forced to use VMS my freshman year in college, I say this - NEVER AGAIN. I mean, maybe they've rewritten it for RISC/CISC chips, but still - the damn thing had a CPU that knew C. Ahh see that's the problem. By 1992 I had given up all hope for VMS. Never again, says I. Y'know, if someone calls themselves "OpenNazi", and does all kinds of charity work, I still won't have them over for dinner.

In fact I earned the nick name 'crash' - they blamed all the system crashes on me - I was the new guy. (actually only one was my fault

Yep. Right from the getgo VMS was inherently worse than UNIX, and that's saying a lot considering my EXTREMELY HIGH opinion of Unix.
