This LCD is meant as a temporary HDTV while I'm waiting for the industry to build me my 1080p RPTV. I haven't used tuners or speakers in any of my TVs for over 15 years (except speakers in kitchen TV) and I'd rather not pay for crap I wouldn't use. I also prefer to minimize the space by eliminating the speakers which makes for an easier fit or allows for a larger monitor. I'll be using it as a computer display mostly but I'll continue to place it around the house as a portable TV.
