I blame you. I posted the R.I.P. thread in the Site Feedback forum because I felt MURC had died during its long slumber since the time we discovered that Matrox has stopped making cards for us. This last year has been absolutely worthless on the MURC. Your post in response to the traitor Nicram is what resuscitated the MURC back to life. The MURC isn't off its death-bed yet but you got the pulse beating again. Sure would be nice if Matrox could eventually help us out a bit.

So I guess we won't see the XT version until later this month (Jun-21). I notice Sapphire and Asus are going to ship XTs. Is there anyone else besides them and ATI shipping an interesting XT? I'm seeing the Sapphire X800 Pro at BZBOYZ for $407 plus shipping or at Xtreme Gear for $429 including FedEx shipping (both with CA tax). I guess I'll wait until month-end to see the comparison reviews and watch the Pro prices drop. I'll probably go for the XT unless its too hot and loud compared to the Pro.

How funny is this? As of right now, CompUSA's page lists these items.

              Radeon X800 XT Platinum Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB 1.12GHz GDDR3 for 499.99

              Radeon X800 PRO Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB 900MHz GDDR3 for 399.99

Radeon 9800 XT Video Card, 8x AGP, 256MB DDR 499.99

Quite odd that we're pretty sure today at a CompUSA store there was an X800 Pro for 349.99 Though that was quite possibly the 128mb version, rather than the 256mb version. I don't see the 128mb version on their website...

Prices don't mean squat unless they have the product in stock and you know all the charges (tax + S/H + ?).

Going back to the MSFT lock-in, kind of. Anyone notice how Steve Jobs wishes he was Bill Gates in that any change he makes causes the industry to follow. And Bill Gates wishes he was Steve Jobs in that everything is integrated and users only know how to use Apple software.

                      Matrox eliminated themselves.

The X800 Pro WAS in stock, and at 350. (pretty sure it was the Pro anyhow...)

Coulda, woulda, shoulda ... doesn't matter. We're looking to buy the card and you can only do that if the product is in stock now. Of course there are those who buy those empty boxes (like I saw at Best Buy) with only a promise of shipment of the board. What a scam.

Well, I'm going to be going by a CompUSA today, I'll post what I find. The simple truth is that on their website, the prices are all out of whack.

Heh.. got it and set it all up.. it was hard to give up the Parhelia.. this is my first non-Matrox card since I built my first PC in 97.. it really does look good though. The only thing I really miss is the 1600x1024 mode.

..oh, and gameplay? Try playing UT2004 at 1920x1200 sometime.. unfricken-believable!
