Everyone is fuXx0r3d because in moving from 130nm to 90nm process the normal paradigm of easy automatic scaling didn't hold. That is why PresHott is borked. AMD also saw this and didn't go to too much longer pipelines. They face the same problems going to 90nm. They are using SOI to help with this but there is still the leakage.

Sorry, but this is almost <B>completely</B> wrong. Speaking as someone that actually developed Intel processors, there hasn't been "easy automatic scaling" since the .25um days.

220, 180, 150, 130, 90nm have all presented new and different challenges.

I wish I could say more but Wombat is correct in saying that nothing scales that easy. I see it all day long in a Site running 180, 150, 130, 90nm all at once. There's never a dull day in Process Integration.

OK let me rephrase, (though it is essentially the same thing). This time they have not solved the problems brought about by the smaller process before the processors got to market. Seeing as most people only see the end result, the statement is true (ok except for automatic).
