There is something I'm curious about...

Does it have a video/audio output (i.e. to connect it to a TV)?
(it seems like an interesting feature to me...)

So have there been any HW updates to the PSP yet? Any imminent? We'll be going on road-trips soon with the wife starting her three week vacation in a couple weeks. I want to pick up a mobile game platform soon to take on the road. I haven't checked out the latest competition now that E3 is on. Does anything compete with this puppy or is it still in a class of its own? I suppose the new platforms won't be shipping in time anyway. Have prices come down yet on the PSP? Where are the best prices? What are the best games out so far for this guy?

There will be a firmware update to close a security hole (which allowed other software and copies to run); but I can't find reference to it...

Future games will check on the firmware, so you can't keep your old firmware if you want to run these games...

I assume the FW update is trivial for the user to perform themselves. I'm mainly concerned with HW updates as Chrono pointed out earlier in this thread.

So how are the games on the PSP? I'm not into sports games. I like the Doom/Quake series and the Myst/Riven series. Can you recommend any games for me? How are the racers? This looks to be the current list. I was considering getting one right now but I don't know if there's really any games I'd like.

Ridge Racer is pretty good. I got Metal Gear: Acid for the PSP and it Blew Chunks. I'm disspointed that GT:4 Mobile and GTA:Libery City Stories arent anywhere close to being released for the PSP. I haven't seen anything else out there that gets my interest or worth dumping $40 bucks on. I wish blockbuster would rent PSP games
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

One game for this expensive console? I need more incentive. Do you know anything about "Need For Speed Underground Rivals"? Anything interesting coming out soon? I was going to buy it within 2-3 weeks ... or not.

                  Wipeout!

Although it's probably impossible for any racing game of this kind to beat 2097 with Negcon

Wipeout is awesome. Lumines is awesome. I just picked up SmartBomb and it is alright - they attempt a story (shouldn't bother) and the puzzles are often too simple, but with insanely low time limits, making the game way too unforgiving. you play the same puzzles over and over again until you beat a level.

Wipeout looks pretty interesting and I'd probably also like Ridge Racer. Getting more interesting here. Wish they had more games already. My neighbor is into X-Box. I wonder if I can convince him he needs one of these? We could then WiFi some head-to-head which would be fun.

Nice machine, but it doesn't exactly get me "up."

Turn the vibe mode on while you play with it in your lap.

NBA & NFL Street are extremely fun.
