    Tip:

    Athlon 64 4200 X2 512k cache/core: ~ $400

    Opteron 175 X2 1mb cache/core: ~ 450

    Both = 2.2 ghz

    Watch those prices.

    Sometimes you can get Opterons on sale for less than an A64 with the same clock, and with its larger cache it's prob. worth the difference without a sale.

      If you are in the market for an X2 , consider an opteron 165(if you can find one).

      The have 1mb cache per core, and you almost guaranteed to Overclock to 2.4 (default 1.8)
      and they are selling for cheaper than 3800x2's
