Can I use the WinXP 64-bit drivers?

I would try the 32-bit XP drivers (assuming that's what you're installing, 64 for 64). It should work. I've had decent success getting XP drivers working on Vista.

If it really becomes reality its going to be a real pain in my @$$

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a shot. How does the affect performance?

Only the x64 version requires signed drivers. Not the 32 bit version.

I was going to say, I've used several unsigned drivers on the 32-bit platform.

MS is supposedly going to concetrate heavily on the 64-bit version of Vista. Most, if not all, new OEM systems will run Vista 64-bit.

                            Anyone running Vista in VMWare?

I've now started a download, and will test it in VMWare (not risking my running system ).
I've read that it should work, but that you need to partition the "drive" with something else (XP cd or whatever).

It works fine in VMWare. Just make sure you give it at least 384MB of RAM (512MB is better), and at least a 32GB virtual HD. You won't get the Aero interface, but everything else should work fine.

True about the installprocedure (about partitioning), can it be done during the installation of Vista?
