Where did that come from? I doubt its authenticity, since the monitors themselves have no idea whether they're primary or not. However, Dell has had power-related monitor firmware issues in the past (not coming out of sleep, IIRC), fixed by upgrades or swaps.

Besides, if it IS true, they should have no issues with a return.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I've heard of weird stuff like this before. Not on this model but I have heard of it.

It had to do with a specific video card, iirc.

Also, I think the proper work around was to wait until Windows was booted before turning on the second monitor.

Came from a user on cnet.com. I know, not the best place to get info from, but definitely worth noting just in case it is true.

Well, I got both monitor's tonight. I'm disappointed. The 2007FP is not the same height as the 2407FPW, so it looks off. I'm one of those people that has to have everything even. SO I think I'm gonna give the 2007 to my son. I don't know, I'll play with it for a few more days and see how it goes.

The 2407 is huge! It's so big it feels like too much(I know I know, that's what she said). I never thought I'd say that about a monitor. It's awfully bright, even with the brightness turned down. Interestingly the 2007 has contrast and the 2407 does not, oh wait, that's probably because the 2007 is connected via analog and the 2407 via DVI. The colors look a little dull on the 2407. I installed the dell driver but still looks dull.

You should be able to adjust the brightness/contrast/colour properties in your video card's control panel.

I'm a bit concerned by the height issue myself. I'll be getting a 30" monitor soon and driving two existing 20" ones beside it. I'll let you know how I fare. It's supposedly on a puro truck coming from Texas.

I set the color temp to "blue" and it now looks like every CRT I've ever used. Along with using the ATI controls, it looks sweet! Now that I got both monitors to look the same temperature, I might keep both. Man, I can't even imagine what the 30" would look like because this 24" is gigantic.

Anybody have any suggestions for a desktop background that will look good at 2560x1600? Something work safe, obviously. (I may be the boss but I do have to keep up appearances.)
