    The EADS still isn't in their compatibility list, but the EACS isn't either.
    Maybe its just the 32Mb of cache that doesn't play well with the RAID controllers...

      I decided to wait to buy the Highpoint card, and until then i'm testing the promise card with a 3+1 RAID5, keeping one disk as a spare.
      Only gives me 1.8TB storage, but we'll see if it lasts more than a week etc...

        Well, in a 3+1 config its lasted quite long.
        Have ordered a Highpoint card 1740 i think, and will be back on all 4 disks soon

          Yay. Will be upgrading to 4x1.5Tb drives when the Highpoint card arrives.
          I have someone to take the promise and 4x1Tb drives.....

            Highpoint card listed as "available from warehouse in less than 10 days..." and its still not here yet.....lets hope they get my email...

              The 3WARE and Areca RAID cards are quite a bit better, although a lot more expensive. They are full hardware raid as opposed to software assist like the highpoint 1740.

                It'll still do the job tho....
                Its only my data being stored, and a 4 disk raid5 should be safe enough...
                It has to be PCI too, so i'm starting with a bottleneck there, but its for long term storage.
                Only 1 or 2 access accounts....

                Have cancelled the rr1740, after a month it still says available in 10 days, and no reply to my emails.....
                Will be calling them next week if it goes on like this.

                Trying to get a card thru the UK, but they don't deliver outside of the UK...
                Have someone over there atm and waiting for a reply...

                  sweet. card is ordered and will be here in just over a week...

                  Time to see how much 4x 1.5tb drives is gonna be....

                  2tb drives are well overpriced right now...even tho i'd go from 4tb formatted to 5.5tb formatted.....

                    Well card has arrived, but I have also received a letter from some law people, because the website where I originally ordered the card in France, has gone bust, and debited my account anyway, without sending the product.
                    I now have to send a claim to get my near 150 euros back....
                    Would you believe their phone line is only open from 10am to 12am mon to thurs....?

                    Sheesh. Legal babble is sooooooo hard to understand.
