I ran a benchmark on HD Tach and got this:

    Random Access time: 13,1ms
    Read Burst Speed: 26,3mbps
Read speed: Max 15776, min 13366, average 14855

    CPU tilization 3.6%

    Is this good or bad?

I think that's pretty good. I have a Fujitsu ATA-3 (UDMA-33) drive and it checks out at:

      Random Access: 13.2
      Read burst: 27.2 mbps
      CUP Utilization: 2.8%
      Avg read speed: 9800.6 kps

All of which makes me want to make my "tax return present" go into a nice new ATA-4 hard drive!

        read burst: 26.8 Mb/sec
        CPU util: 64.7%

        average read speed: 13447.2 kbps

I know who has the same model Western Digital Caviar I had before. I am going to bench it and post the result. That drive seemed to be much faster.

          I think I am spoiled :/

I borrowed the drive and ran a test on my
            old Western Digital Caviar 17.2Gig/UDMA66

            This is very good

            Random access time: 12.7
            Read Burst speed: 30,5mbps
            Read Max: 20342 kps
            Read Min: 17375 kps
            Read Aver: 19404 kps

The biggest difference seems to be the minimum.

Man, I want that drive back

Thanks for your feedback guys, at least I know what I am going to buy next time.

            Have a good one day
