    Well, it looks like we have facts and benchmarks on the V5, and nothing but FUD and very high price tags for the NV15...

    About the V5 performing on par with the GeForce, remember when the GeForce came out ? The performances where under the TNT2 Ultra (not even including the G400 Max here), in 32bits. We see that on alpha silicon and beta drivers the V5 is a very good contender for the GeForce (and will probably be much better on high-end CPUs and with final drivers), and FSAA is for now a much more useful feature than T&L.

    BTW, the NV15 will not have much more bandwidth than the GeForce DDR. I think it won't even be able to reach its peak fillrate in benchmarks, which once again proves the superiority of NVidia's design ;-)

    Anyway, I'll wait for the G800 specs before deciding what to buy.

      I'm sitting on a TNT2 now at 2048x1536 and have heard that the GeFarce (hehe) is as good, sorry CRAP at 2D - I may buy a V5 due to the fill rate and reasonable 2D but like you guys - I want a G800 (as it will certainly have excellent 2D/Video) but with at least close-to-world-beating performance.

      I must say though, that I didn't really mind the Gx00 drivers being slow at low res before TGL - as I play at a high res that is fill rate limited anyway.

      So then my choices:
      * V5 fast(est?) 3D, good 2D and FSAA (which I don't like much at the moment)
      * GF2 fast(est?) 3D, crap 2D (?) and T&L (which has unimpressed me on GF1)
      * G800 fast(est?) 3D, best 2D, T&L (?), FSAA (?), everything else (Mmm.. Quadri-head - let's find a use for my redundant 15"'ers that are lying about!).

      A question mark about everything on G800 but it's still the favourite to make it into my machine.

      Yours Matrox lovingly ,

        Ok, first time for everything... I was wrong. The new fastest video card totally escaped my notice... UNTIL NOW:

        (picture removed to save Gurm's web account quota)

          ROFLMAO.

          Wonder if that card needs to be powered by a dedicated nuclear reactor...

          "I just got 6.41e+41 fps!!!!" Wow, looks like scientific notation does have a purpose =)

            You'll have cut a hole in the case to fit that card in - or will it come with a RefridgeATX(TM) case?

            And find me somebody willing to bet against that beating the Glaze 3D into the stores Hehe indeed!

              I didn't think I was criticising non-Matrox - I was criticising FSAA which Matrox will probably have on their next generation of chips. I was asking if FSAA is a chip feature or driver and suggesting that the leaked 5.xx Detonator drivers were meant.

              As for the other guys, the are like me Matrox fans (I think ) and are posting to a General Hardware forum on the Matrox Users Resource Centre - I don't think we are biased - just we like all the features that Matrox gives us - we would criticise them too - especially the G200/OpenGL 'fiasco'

              Not meaning to flame (if I was I'd be asking Dimitri how to do the flaming smilie!),

              Paul.

              PS: Dimitri - how is it done?

                        Corwin:

                        Because the bitchinfast 3d's reference design was created early last year, before GeFarce chips went through nVidia's "magic bullshit machine" to make them work. The TNT2 was the fastest thing available at the time.

                        Mind you, only the G400 actually creates output for the BitchinFast3D. The other chips all do internal rendering. The S3 takes care of DXTC, the V3 renders all 16-bit data at 22-bits, and the TNT2 helps when the scene calls for REALLY FUZZY OUTPUT. The ATI chip allows flawless DVD playback (something no amount of Bungholiomarks can show).

                          Well I'd never seen the pic before and I apologies to to Himself for me thinking I was getting criticised again!

                          BTW, is that image on high-compression or is it just my TNT2? Hehe

                            And with regards to shit and my TNT2 - my fan has been making loud, worrying noises as if it's hitting the TNT2/NS - as the saying goes: "When the shit hits the fan"
