Hmmm - let's hope for past 1Ghz at least...

Shouldnt be a problem .My lowly 700 does a gig easy (with an alpha) rock solid . with 1.8 volts It idles at 100 f and 110 f under heavy load in win2k.Runs 3dmark2000 and prime95 at the same time so I feel stable..Hope you go 1200,,YEEE HAAAAWWWW....Matt

my P3-850 on P3B-F only manages 977 but is completely stable. pushing it to 1020(x120 fsb) results in registry errors.not sure if it's possible to get that elusive gig. I'm open to any ideas & oh,I do have crucial cas2 ram. hope you're luckier than me.

#1 - It's a BX - I despise anything with VIA in it, and will not purchase it.

#2 - Designed for 133FSB (explicitly, rather than stating, we can do it)

#3 - RAID built-in (4 X0GB Maxtor 7200RPM drives as 1 X0GB RAID 1+0) Best of both worlds for reading and writing - without the cost of a DPT RAID Ultra-160 controller.

#4 - Still waiting for new chipsets to mature.

#5 - I've had my best OC'ing luck with ABIT.

#6 - It's available, and I'm going to a gaming fest this Thursday, and wanted to have the fastest rig there...

#1 Fair comments. I'm not one of VIA's biggest fans, although I've found the Asus P3V4X to be very good (before I sold it ).

#2 Designed for 133MHz FSB? how does it differ from any other overclock-friendly BX board, surely the AGP card will still be overclocked when FSB=133MHz?

#3 ATA/66/100 RAID is very nice. 4x40gig Maxtors - even nicer. I've got one of those drives and it rocks. I'm not a fan of Highpoint though.

#4 Yeah, BX is still damn good. I'm actually considering an i815e based board at the moment though.

#5 Yep, I've had some nice O/C success with Abit too, shame I've had the most (DOA) problems with them also

You might want to skip on the Maxtors if you plan to run the in a RAID config, I've seen a lot of posts on Storage Reviews forums, about trouble with RAID'ed Maxtors.

Go with IBM Deskstar 75GXP's instead

Got me thinking about and upgrade now as well. I've been considering replacing my older P3-700E with one with the CBO stepping which should OC much better than the 868 I'm stuck at now.

The problems reported with RAID'ed Maxtor hard drives are a fault of the Highpoint controller, not the Maxtor drives AFAIK. I've set up numerous systems with Maxtor 40GB drives with Promise RAID cards - no problems whatsoever.

Remember, that with RAID, more drives yield greater throughput. Choose a drive that will be available and affordable in the near future. Otherwise, you'll need to find a comparable drive (speed, capacity) to augment the array. (Reminds me, I need to pick up a couple more).

Do you have those in a drive array box? I was using a Compaq at work with one of those noisy towers. Cool thing was you could kick out the SCSI cable and it would retain everything in its cache awaiting reconnection.

Tried pushing voltage up to 1.85V but same problem. Cooling is by an orb & artic silver interface.Cpu idles at22-25C &37-38C under full load. Any other suggestions anybody!

When you try 120 FSB, do you use 30 or 40 MHz PCI?
