    >I've never understood this, but I have to ask. Even with todays larger hard drives. What is the point of copying DVDs to your hard drive if they take up such an enourmous amount of space?

8 GB at the most? That's not all that much.

It is a bit too much to keep a movie on your hard drive taking eigth gigabytes but for temporary storage until you watch the movie once or twice it's bearable.

I often copy movies from friends. It's a lot more convenient than borrowing the disc and having to return it later on. Better for both of us.

      1. To convert .VOB to .AVI you have to copy to HD.
      2. When borrowing or renting DVD's you can keep 'em longer.
      3. Good for archiving. Get 2 75gb IBM drives and backup your DVD's.....Which is probly what I'm gonna do. Take out the Mpeg-2 & .AC3 stream and copy to HD.
      4. Because I can.
