8 GB at the most? That's not all that much.
It is a bit too much to keep a movie on your hard drive taking eigth gigabytes but for temporary storage until you watch the movie once or twice it's bearable.
I often copy movies from friends. It's a lot more convenient than borrowing the disc and having to return it later on. Better for both of us.
