Hi, I've got another problem - well, my friend has another problem
He's got a brand new T-bird 900 on a Biostar mobo along with 256MB RAM running Win98. For some reason the PC refuses to install various programs (Q3A, Adobe Go Live,...) and others make the PC freeze (so no blue screens) at startup (UT, Carmageddon 3...)
We've changed the mobo and RAM and the problems still remain so it has nothing to do with that. We've also removed every card that's not necessary; same thing.
My guess is that it's the cooler. It's only AMD certified up to 800MHz while the CPU runs at 900MHz. It's either that or the CPU is broken. What do you guys think? Could it be the cooler or is it the CPU. I'd say the PC wouldn't boot at all if it were the CPU but then again, who am I.
[addendum]Another strange thing is that incoming network traffic arrives corrupted while there's no mention of bad CRC's or anything.
Also, his goldfish died yesterday.
