        I know ...

Since region 2 DVDs are to be run on 50Hz (25fps) systems, it is common usage to telecine the whole movie in 25fps, since those 5% speed up are bearable and you won't have to cope wiuht any pulldowns.

Hence I thought that NTSC DVDs would be telecined to 29.97, repectively 30fps.

        Great link btw ...

I've got 2 viewsonic g-790's (one for me + 1 for the wife) and both are perfectly sharp and colors are awesome. Of course I've got the MAX and she's only got the g200.

P.S. I'm afraid if I bring her monitor downstairs next to mine on the dualhead I won't give it back.

Having seen this post I think I should post this here instead of creating a new topic.

              -----

I am in need of a new monitor....

I have ~£400 to spend and i obviously want to get the best that i can.

Can anyone give me some recomendations? I have seen some 3D glassess that come with the Asus GF card that work accourding to the monitors refresh rate. I would therefore like a refresh rate as high as possible.

Cheers for the replies in advance.

Wishfull thinking aside, i was looking at the G420. Does anyone have a price for it as i cannot find any info on it. Urm...a UK based store would be ideal!

I have a budget of £400....I am not sure if i could get a Sony 19" with that....but i suppose a sony 17" would be better than another competitiors 19"...

I am not making much sense now so i will go.

they sell re-furbed vaio, and monitors, you could pick up a 21" for under 400

The sony G420 costs ~750-800 Euro here in Germany, and it's just gotten available.

                      hmmmm.....

I'd have to see a review of that VMpro....

I cant find the Sony for under £400....I know that you pay for the name....but is the Sony better?

                      A confused Paddy.

When I get home tonight (In about 2 hours time) I'll post some of the comments from the magazine on the various 19" displays they reviewed.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.

                          Do so.

I am seriously considering the Iiyama.

OK, short of posting all 10 pages of the review, I'll try and keep things down to a minimum.
                            The monitors that were tested:

                            Iiyama VM Pro 451
                            CTX PR960F
                            Nokia 930C
                            Eizo FlexScan F730
                            Iiyama VM 452
                            Sony Multiscan E400
                            Taxan Ergovision 985
                            Eizo FlexScan T761
                            Philips 109B20
                            Philips Brilliance 109P20
                            Acer P911
                            Belinea 10 60 80
                            Compaq P910
                            Hitatchi CM772ET
                            Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT
                            Sony Multiscan G400
                            ADI MicroScan G910
                            Belinea 10 60 60
                            Hansol 920D
                            Formac ProNitron 19/400
                            Formac ProNitron 19/800
                            Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 92

It's really impossible for me to pst everything they said about each monitor.
Here are a couple of their conclusions.
If you want me to post more about a particular model, just say.

                            Iiyama VM Pro 451
Superb image geometry characteristics and good colour balance match a rich feature set and great price.

                            Sony Multiscan E400
The Multiscan E400 is yet another impressive screen from Sony, but is beaten by the Iiyama for features.

                            Sony Multiscan G400
A flexible monitor for the professional user, but Iiyama's Vision Master Pro 451 is a better buy overall.

I know this doesn't tell a lot, you guys mention the models you're interested in and I'll try and post more.

I'm curious what they had to say about the PR960. I've had that one for over a year. I really liked it UNTIL the power supply went out. CTX's warranty repair has been a TOTAL NIGHTMARE! Although the PS is fixed, they broke some other parts, and the picture is majorly hosed. It's been about 8 months, and they still haven't returned my messages/e-mails.

                                Summery of CTX PR960F:
In our geometry & distortion tests, the PR960F gained full marks on all but one test.
Especially impressive was the rock solid screen regulation - indicating good quality electronics.
Slightly disappointing in the colour tests, falling down on red and white purity and the colour scales test.
The CTX also fell behind the leaders in the sharpness & resolution tests. Again, moire caused problems, with patterns visable to some degree in all but one test.
It also failed video bandwidth and transient response checks, indicating it can't switch between black & white as quickly as some others.
Main advantages - a non-captive D-SUB input as well as BNC connectors.
Also included, 4 port USB hub within monitors base, something most of the other monitors don't include.
Overall: Good value monitor with some useful extra features but it's let down by only average image quality.
