What?!? Intel needs the same BAD and EVIL driver-packages for their newer chips as VIA?
No, that just can't be since everyone knows VIAs 4in1 are just bad hacks to circumvent hardware-problems or so I was told from the Intel people...
Happy owner of an Abit KT7/Duron1050
(Sorry, couldn't resist)

Hmmmm...when was the last time VIA released a driver package that had the sole purpose of adding a chipset and allowing a silent install? That's all this release is. No upgrades to the other drivers....so I don't see the connection there Indiana.

Indiana, don't try and call me stupid. Read the readme again and then come back here and tell me honestly you believe that.
Here's a hint: That readme includes a history of the revisions. The vast majority of the larger download is a new installer that allows for a silent install (something that many OEM's scream for). The only things new in these drivers compared to the last release are support for another chipset (i860) and the silent install feature.

Hey Indiana,
these chipset drivers support all Intel chipsets back to the 440 series and if you have a close look into the release notes, you'll find that they didn't change anything for that chipset, but merely added/enhanced/fixed support for their newer chipsets ...
Btw, at least it seems that Intel knows how to write drivers for their own chipset, as opposed to VIA ...
and it's not a 4in1, but more a driver set for the DMA controller, PCI-to-ISA bridge, CPU-to-AGP controller, CPU-to-PCI bridge, parallel, serial, USB, IDE/ATA33/ATA66 and what ever
Cheers,

I seem to be having a little problem installing the drivers.
I'm using ME and after I run the setup and click next on the license agreement it says the following:
"The current operating system supports the Intel chipset devices on your system. No INF update is needed."
What should I do ?

I get that on my Win2K system too, on my Abit BE6-II. I guess, well, your INF files are up to date!</font>
I use Win2k and installed SP2 just two days ago, this inf_install went on my system today and everything worked out right on my Asus P2B-D.
Do you probably have any sort of auto-update
?
