I'm trying to get my P!!!/850 FSB 100 FC-PGA to work on my buddies P2B-LS R1.03 (so I can keep his new Slot 1, 1 GHz ). I've bumped the voltage (via the Abit SlotKET!!!) to 1.75 but still no boot. How high up can I jack the voltage without being concerned about risking my CPU? I'm thinking a couple tenths of volts (10 %) to a maximum of 1.9v. Any opinions?

Hi Xortam,
by accident I had mine above 2.2v for a few seconds and it didn't harm ...
I run my Celery now @ 1.85v while it should be defaulting at 1.5, so you should be safe at any voltage below 2.0v, but keep an eye on your cooling and in doubt just slap a 2nd fan onto the HS.
Good luck with that old MoBo and make sure you disable any "halt upon error" in your BIOS or even better, disable the VCore readout as it will report an error.
Cheers,

Well if it isn't working @ default speed and an already upped voltage, I doubt any more voltage increases will do anything. Obviously, something else is the problem.

Wah! Tried 1.80v, 1.90v, and eventually 2.00v but still no beep or POST. Funny I have no problem with the 850 or the 1 GHz Slot 1 in my P2B-S R1.03 at nominal 1.70v. I sure would like to keep the Gigger (noticable improvement).<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>

hmmm ...let's see
[*] latest MoBo BIOS installed ?[*] any chance to test a newer powersupply ?[*] maybe swap CPU together with MoBo ?
still hoping ...Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

Latest mobo BIOS would be 1013 (beta 4) if you're wondering, xortam
Which jumper settings are you trying? My P2B only goes as far as a maximum of 8.0 x 112MHz, so I guess the LS would do the same.
8x100 will underclock your CPU, or the slotket must take over (?? Maggi ??)

It's 1013.007 and yes we do have the latest BIOS loaded. We're using the CPU locked multipliers and running the FSB at 100 MHz. Going to try 2.05v now and yank any ancillary boards ...<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>

nope ... they use the onboard multipliers if the CPU is unlocked.
566.6 / 66.6 = 8.5 ... 8.5 * 100 = 850
Swing, an occasional MURCer has a Cel600 running I think also on an old Asus board at 112MHz if I remember right. (9 * 112 = 1008)

Try a different powersupply, Xortam !
Could be struggling if it was bought together with the MoBo ...Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">566.6 / 66.6 = 8.5 ... 8.5 * 100 = 850</font>
Which concludes that 8 x 100 = 800
So they might be underclocking the CPU now, and with it being set at 850, it won't post?

We got it to boot at 2.05v, reinserted the cards and am now posting at 850 MHz (which means I'm a Gigger man now! ) Checking the temperature ... 41 degrees C, a couple degrees warmer than usual but fine. Reporting 2.096v Vcore. I'll stress it a bit with Prime95 while checking the temperature. I'll still have him check out other power supplies.<TABLE BGCOLOR=Red><TR><TD><Font-weight="+1"><font COLOR=Black>The world just changed, Sep. 11, 2001</font></Font-weight></TR></TD></TABLE>
