Thanks Chuck, ATZ got my connection speed back. And overall it looks faster now as well

I still wonder how I check my true speed though

U can test it with by doing a bandwith test.

Check the Internet Connection of that site.

From what i see it's good.... should give u 4.5K/s in dw and about 3-4k/s in upload.

              Mozilla gets better values...

IE gets betven 39 and 47...

              Mozilla gets 70 to 75.....

To test actual DL speed you should always use a local ftp server... your ISP's preferably. When DLing from a distance especially crosscountry the result will always be lower than your true speed! That's due to the fact you're actually testing the Internet and congestion along the way.

ie PC Pitstop's test is awash in giving you a correct result

here's an example of a better speed test

Thanks for the link greebe, some test has been usefull. Too bad DSLReports are so far from here.... i only bench 1071/117 kbps on their page which is lots less than on pcpitstop. I've tested download on my own ISP ('cus they don't allow upload tests) and got 2720Kbps which isn't bad.... i'll have to find a way to test upload now.

                      Is this any better than?

I've got the feeling I have a hardware modem. That plus something Mike told me over the weekend about UT & pings, strengthens this

Mike... Ping is better with UT's connection being at 20,000

Your upload is great, but the download seem's a little low for a 56K.

I'll test again when I am

Oh... that explain everything..... kinda remind me when my brother was sharing his 56K. One was downloading and the other was playing UT online...

                              Visited the link. I got;

                              UPLOAD: 567 kbps
                              DOWNLOAD: 743 kbps

But....this is a bad day. I've scored over 1000 kbps before during FTP downloads...

Are you sure that's a 56k modem there? 56k modems only have a upload of 33.6k max (or was it 31.2?). v.92 modems bump it up to 44kbps, but I don't see how you are getting 92kbps. If your ISP gives you free webspace, upload a file to it, then download it again, to test speed.
