WTF are the new G-200 drivers for Windows???

About the new PD5x drivers maybe Matrox meant that they will be released when the full retail version become available and not the OEM's who knows ???

Hey sclark,

I think you have things a liitle mixed up there. I have always been a firm supporter of Matrox, which is something you would know if you have been here as long as you say, and I am now also one on their beta testers. The only thing my NDA keeps me from doing is giving out specfic numbers based on the beta drivers I might be testing at the time. If I wanted to I could load the drivers for the G400 that came on the CD that I received and give you those number but why? All they will show is that they are better than what we have seen in reviews already and we have told you that. One thing I will tell you is that I no longer run anything in less than 32-bit color where it is available.

My NDA does not in anyway keep me from saying anything about Matrox in general and as a matter of fact I think they should release the newer drivers for the G200, but that is a marketing thing which I nor any of the other beta testers have any control over.

I don't post as often as I use too because I just got tried of always being called a liar.

I don't think anymore needs to be said now - the thread's come to its end.

We've heard enough about release dates for g200's new drivers, and to tell the truth, no one really knows anymore than anyone else on this matter. I think Matrox would have liked us to be another marketing machine, but we are trying not to be that. We point out faults with the g200, we will point out faults with the g400 (if and when we find any once released in the retail form). But praise goes where praise is due. If we find good things, we will say so. Of course there are times when there are somethings we cannot talk about.

So, just get off our backs, and think yourselves lucky that you have some input into Matrox through us and that we can give insight when we can. Fair enough?

BTW - Sclark - you're not 100% right there. I was pretty quiet on these forums before the beta program. Some of us were chosen on recommendations, some because of what we do here, and some on qualifications/experience. Or a bit of all of them.

sclark- youre closer to 100% wrong than 100% right. the beta testers ive seen post here are if anything the strongest matrox supporters here. read: the least amount of complaining in the time ive read this forum. a few others here that i thought would be qualified were not chosen, probably because they had been critical at times. the main problem as i see it is the lag time from when the testers got the drivers (and their g400's "congrats") to when (if?) they get released to the unwashed masses. ive complained a few times earlier this year, but realized it was not going to speed the process. SOON... what a word..

BTW: to say that maggi is a matrox detractor suggests to me that you started reading this forum yesterday..

and lastly, the make your own driver thing is ludicrous, and is not cogent to this thread or the driver situation.

Everyday I try to understand the marketing people at Matrox. If the PD 5.x beta drivers are fairly stable, what the hell is Matrox waiting for? It's been 10 long months now and I'm still F**king waiting for the NT OGL ICD. Excuse me but I'm just feeling alot of animosity towards Matrox today. I'm just totally disgusted with the G200 issues with Matrox. More power to you Whisper!!!!!!

sclark- sorry, didnt mean you. this whole thing probably wouldnt be as bad if the beta boys didnt go public. no ive got it, you dont BS. no other way to slice it, however, they appear to be done (for awhile now) and for no apparent reason M hasnt released them and hasnt commented as to why. one thing IS obvious however, we at this forum are insignificant to M and no amount of screaming and howling on our part is going to affect what they do one iota.

Kruzin, the 5 year old kid story doesn't apply here, nor does it cut it. We demand the new PD5 drivers because we PAID for them, in a transaction for a hardware/software product from matrox. As we all know, these are the OGL drivers that were said to be in the box when the G200’s shipped about a YEAR ago! After the original purchase, we were then told that they would be released SOON. (Sound familiar?) Most of us are upset at matrox because of this, but I can also see the resentment towards the beta testers... why? Because they HAVE the product that we paid for! Beta testers, best thing to is let this blow over and let us rant; as I am sure matrox would ask you to do. You have what you paid for now, and then some, all the best to you. The rest of us go on as usual, checking the site for that moment when SOON turns into reality. Let me tell you, after a year of this it gets old! Sure I could of purchased another video card, and go away like a lot of other G200 customers, but damit, it is my money, that I worked for, and I am not going to let matrox line their pockets with it while they figure out another way to delay this product any further! Besides that, what about the other 10 other people that I know that have this card and are in similar shape. They also purchased the card, but are not represented here to express their dis-satisfaction with matrox, on why this or that software will not work because of driver or OGL issues. If the matrox beta site just a signup away, then leak the damn driver and let us get on with it. It is not like we have not PAID for it already!

You're obviously not reading my posts, or just trying to twist my words. I have agreed several times that the drivers should have been released. Everyone is owed the support they paid for. It's not like I personally have one ounce of influence in when the drivers become public.

My comments where directed at Whispers direct animosity and insults towards me. There is no reason for him/her to act like a child in this matter. He's mad at me because I have something he doesn't, so he insults me. That particular 5-year old analogy was intended solely as a comment about those personal attacks on me, not towards anyone else's beef with Matrox.

Hmmm...seems like someone is trying hard to start up a flame war, doesn't it? To say "Hey, nothing personal, but you're either a liar or an idiot" is just ignorant. Just what exactly do you expect to accomplish by acting like an infant?

I defy you to show me where any other beta tester or I have lied. All we've done is pass along our findings on the drivers and equipment we've tested. How is that lying? On the contrary, we've backed up the things we have claimed with screenshots and rough performance comparisons. If that is not info you are interested in, or choose not to believe, you are invited to ignore it.

Your complaint (and I've already agreed with you that it's a valid one) is that you feel you've had to wait too long for Matrox to give you the driver support you are entitled to. We (the beta testers) never stated any dates, so where is the lie?

I think several people hit the nail on the head...you're just mad at Matrox, and jealous of the beta testers. You think because we have something, that you should have it too. I understand. My 5-year-old feels the same way when she sees another child with a toy she wants. We just have the misfortune of being your easiest target for your adolescent rage.

Well, I need them to stop locking up my system at critical points when I'm working. (Yes, I do work!). The last time it happened, I had to do a hard reeboot which ufortunatly caused a critical error in a database I had on been woking on. Hours of work wasted! (Flushing sound inserted here)

Do you make your own clothes too? I don't have the time or the expertice to write my own drivers or build my own PC from matches and chewing gum for that matter, so I pay hard earned dough for others to do this for me. But when the people that got my money lie to me for a YEAR, don't reply to my e-mails and exibits a generally condensenting attitude by doing nothing, NADA, I think I have the right to tell others that they suck bigtime!

Yes, I have preached the word with Father Joel in the past, maybe to get my own hopes up that they would release the drivers SOON (Damn'it, I said it). I still feel that my G200 has the potential to be a good investment, but I'm getting really weary of waiting.

Personally I don't have the money to order a G400 to get descent drivers. I just bought a new car last week. Cleaned me out completely. My old Fiesta couldn't hack it anymore so I put it out of it's misery. I now have to wait for Matrox to release the new drivers!

Enough whining for now...
