      Danham,

Wasn't originally interested in Dualhead but now that I saw what you posted about Photoshop I'm suddenly VERY INTERESTED.

Might get a cheap ADI 15" to go along with my ADI 17".. (Damn, gotta start e-mailing ADI about getting some monitor support into Matrox Monitor listings..)

Just checked out www.smcdirect.co.uk , they are advertising oem G400 32mb dualhead as in stock. They seem a bit pricey though.

I guess that this thread is at least having some of its intended effect. I'm still trying to get the moronic doom sayers to admit that the G400 is available now.

Thankfully everybody in this thread seems to have their head screwed on.

              Hello to the Photoshop users,
Just out of curiosity, why did you wait for Matrox DualHead when you could have had dual monitors by just adding a PCI card?
I am a day trader and am thinking of upgrading to TNT2 and a PCI card. Why not this route instead?

I tried multi-monitor using a Marvel G200 (AGP) and a Mystique220 (PCI) card, and my system slowed down considerably. Also some programs just refused to work, Media Studio 5.2 wouldn't even load! The system was far too buggy so I went back to a single card. Dual-Head makes it a lot easier. If you want multi-monitor dual-head is the only choice for me.

The reason why. On that version of Aopen ax6b motherboard it was the only way to get AGP x2 dime. I had to try it and it worked.

                    Hello Chris,
Thanks for the feedback. I only use multi monitor for day trading. I run all my tickers (java applets) on one monitor and all my orders and reading on the other (main display). Do you think my system will slow down considerably for that application.
I have P2-450, 320 Meg RAM, Creative Banshee,
Abit BH-6. I am getting my second monitor next week.
Why would Matrox' dual head be faster (I am assuming less overhead on the CPU) than an AGP and a PCI card?

                    Thanks,
                    Raymond

                      Hello Raymond,
Yes, I would assume there would be less CPU overhead. Win98's built in multi-monitor support does seem to work just fine for some people, but I've tried it in a couple of machines with many different graphics cards and there always seems to be a performance hit. If your setup is fine stick with it.

I'm biased towards the G400 because; (a) I want multi-monitor that runs well on my machine and (b) I like to play the odd game

                      Chris.
