There's nothing wrong with an AMD K6-3 (well except perhaps the weakass floating point). There _IS_ something _VERY_VERY_VERY_VERY_ wrong with Super Socket 7 boards. They all have issues. Every last one of them. End of story.

      anid,
thanks. Turning busmastering off did the trick. Played Fifa99 with no problems. I still prefer the monitor customizations of 4.51 tho. Performance seems better now. I now see that there are controls to turn busmastering on or off in the powerdesk (just like 4.xx). Believe me it never stayed stable long enough for me to even check that out before. I'll have to see if quake2/q3test runs better now. Thanx again

PS I had to create the Engine key, it did not previously exist.

I wouldn't go that far.... yes, they can have a few stability issues that the boards designed for intel don't, but on the whole they have gotten much better. I have not had any problems with mine... very stable, very fast, and much cheaper. How many people you see post a 57 in CPUMark? Put the system through a few hours of torture testing without crashing? And, with just a Mill G200 SD, post over 3200 3DMarks and 7600 CPUMarks? What was that problem?

I was just funnin' with ya guys. I say, "whatever floats yer boat." I like the cost-effective apporach with the AMD Super Socket 7 idea, and will trade off a bit of performance.

I think it comes from my days as a hot rod/muscle car enthusiast. After beating the crap out of someone, i always liked to say, "... and you spent HOW much on that thing?" (Of course, if you LOST, you could always say, "Oh, well - I only spent $X on this thing anyways.")

Just be aware that turning off busmastering also disables AGP - or so I've heard.

Things looking a lot better after the reformat and reinstall of 5.13. Still no AGP2x, but I've given up hope on that ever happening.

Noticed that heat has become an issue, so ala the G400 tip, I have placed a second heat sink on the back side of the card. Was amazed how HOT the second sink got after a couple hours. Time for a slot fan I guess.

              Even better, Rollcage now works!
